the idea that making art is embarrassing if you don't do it well enough to make a career out of it is an objectively harmful and toxic brainworm.
An opinion I pretty firmly hold is that everyone should make a song, paint a painting, act in something, and write a book even if all of those things end up being objectively terrible

Bird retinas operate without oxygen and are fueled by glucose from the pecten oculi. This challenges long-held beliefs about how highly metabolic tissues function and offers insight into evolutionary adaptations! 🧪

Interesting...a new clue in the mystery of Prototaxites, the largest land organism in the Devonian period. It wasn't a fungus 🍄 OR a plant 🌱. It's a completely extinct KINGDOM! 🧪

Once these were the largest and most dominant living things on land, but their greatness did not ensure survival.

Visual art is 80% learning to see. That means not only learning how to see, understand and evaluate the world around you, the human figure etc. But it also means learning to see, understand and evaluate your own work. Seeing is the hardest part to teach and the hardest part to learn.

WELL NOW, would you look at that? A massive, 24-YEAR-LONG study of MORE THAN 1.2 MILLION people in Denmark found NO LINK between aluminum in childhood vaccines and autism, asthma, OR chronic disorders.

Aluminum is an ADJUVANT.

It ENHANCES your immune response to a vaccine.

That’s it.

YES.

Every time we are expected to say “AI has SOME good uses”, even though the kind currently discussed (the slop producing kind) is not the same thing as the “good at spotting statistical anomalies” kind, and that disingenuous bullshit is to try to make people shut up about the slop engines!
This is specifically about AI use in humanities disciplines within academia, which is clear from context- this crap is extremely harmful in that setting. Inevitably, people show up to be like "AI finds cancer cells tho".

NOT THE SUBJECT, and that conflation has been inflicted upon us intentionally.
You absolutely will not convince a bunch of historians and sociologists and whoever else is in this thread that you know more than we do about this and we should use it. I wish you AI enthusiasts would stop wading into our conversations. You have nothing helpful to contribute and are snarky.
