Great visualization of the problem. Time to get rid of the electoral college

Man alive. The contrast between the courage of voters and the absolute cowardice of Democratic leadership is just undeniable and the story of the moment.

The question is which will win out in the end and that question just got a whole lot louder.

I lived through the Bush presidency and it was not a well kept secret that Dick Cheney was basically president and responsible for the war in Iraq, the use of torture at black sites, creating a surveillance state to spy on Americans, etc.

Cheney paved the way for Trump.
That’s his legacy.

In a way, I find the authoritarian takeover of our media system even more disturbing than the authoritarian takeover of our political system.

Our political system has been failing basically my entire adult life. But, the media system provided accountability and sort of worked. Now it’s collapsing.

People who force their religion on others will force their politics on others. It’s why we separate church from state.

They aren't just mad that Obama became president, although that did trigger them for eternity.

They're mad about the Civil Rights Act.

They're mad about the Civil War.

Look at everything they do and you should be able to guess where this is going.

If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

There are no circumstances where human beings should be without food. There are no qualifications that make someone undeserving of access to food. If you are a human being, you should get food. I don’t care about ability, job status, legal status, or anything else. If people are hungry, feed them.

Grass roots organizing (which died out long ago) would reveal what kinds of candidates might win. Now that parties are just elite media companies and consultants, they can only grope at what they think the littles might want.

I feel like George Santos exemplifies a lot of what’s broken in the “justice” system. He was a corrupt politician, he briefly experienced the horrors of inhumane prison conditions, then the corrupt president moved to yank him out—and his victims received none of what they were owed in the process

White people’s insistence that other white people—especially the ones exhibiting morally questionable behavior—deserve the benefit of the doubt is going to kill us all.

Pritzker is showing other Dems how to stand up to fascist bullies.

You don't reach across the aisle and tell them you want to be friends. You don't negotiate with limp-dicked wannabe dictators and terrorists who threaten your freedom.

Fuck you, come and get me.

That's where you start.

I continue to think that one of the reasons this country is falling apart is the wholesale abandonment of public virtue as a broadly shared aspiration. Or even something people should be embarrassed about if they don’t have it.

One thing the media's reticence to label Kirk an extremist has made jarringly clear is how scared they are of the people in power now who share his extremist beliefs.

In the space of nine months, they have internalized a fear of condemning racism, misogyny, homophobia and antisemiticism.

The great thing here is that you don't have to celebrate Charlie Kirk's death.

Simply post things said by Charlie Kirk and people can decide on their own how they want to feel about it.

Lots of people revising history and acting like Charlie Kirk wasn’t a political figure today and was “just a podcaster”. Charlie Kirk was the founder of the far right ‘organisation’ Turning Point Action which runs troll farms, pushes far right rhetoric and was heavily involved with Jan 6.

Charlie Kirk was a victim of the circumstances he advocated for and I dont feel even a little bit bad.
We can pointlessly argue all day about whether or not he deserved it but at the end of the day he nurtured the environment that got him killed.

When I woke up, I had a nice hazy minute before remembering about Charlie Kirk.

He died in a vile & uncivil way.

He worked tirelessly to make our society more vile & less civil.

GOP will use his death to perpetuate his mission.

Dems will trip over our politeness.

Fascism sucks.
He was a wretch.

In absolute earnest, I think terror of “elitism” has put a powerful vocabulary for describing what’s going on here out of play. These people are vulgar, thuggish, unsophisticated, crass, unschooled, unreflective. They are low in a sense that has nothing to do with income, & it’s fine to say so.
