I didn't begrudge Mamdani for meeting with Trump OR for expecting the support of NY Dems after winning the primary. Both are normal politicking. It's the rank hypocrisy of his supporters, who recognize these things as normal, but only in his case, that grates.

Man there’s this uncomfortable spot where certain modern governments are utterly incompetent at running the country itself but it manages to stay in power due to how advanced/sophisticated authority and control techniques have become relative to the history of nation-states.
