They advance on foot in -20°C to hide in some burned out ruins, where they can't start a fire to warm themselves up, because that would disclose their position. So likely there are thousands of them that just froze to death without ever seeing any combat, thus not counted towards these 7k~8k.

Also. Last month was absolutely horrific for the Russians. They lost between 7000 and 8000 men per week. The casualty ratio was 25 Russian soldiers killed for every Ukrainian soldier killed. But who knows if this will continue.
Probably related to the StarLink shutdown. It was said that the russian command chain had had completely collapsed. They are only now finding and adopting alternatives (AFAIU amplified and directional wi-fi comms).

The Russian reaction to losing territory has been to bomb the civilian towns in the region.

You may remember the failed Ukrainian counteroffensive of 2023. During the last month, Ukraine managed to retake more territory in Zaporizhzhia, than during that failed offensive. Maybe there is reason to be cautiously optimistic that the Russians are beginning to crack and become brittle.

I really hope the French do not send their army to Niger, even if ISIS takes over that country. The age of French intervention in Africa should finally be over. African countries like Chad, Nigeria, or Ghana, should lead the military response to this coming catastrophe.
That is really not good news, even if they are pro-russia. ISIS is really bad news...

It looks like Niger is about to collapse and fall under ISIS control. The government there is releasing increasingly insane and desperate statements.

Might be that we Europeans are a bit too quick to be impressed by Newsom. But, to be fair, our expectations aren't exactly high right now.

The desperate way Orbán and his FIDESZ crooks are behaving now really makes it look as if they all know they are going to jail if they lose.

Europe is now the “bad cop” on Belarus, while America has become the “good cop,” Belarusian opposition leader
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya told us at #MSC2026.

The roles have reversed since Trump returned to power, she explained at our #POLITICOPub 👇

Gavin Newsom signing an agreement for California to support Ukraine, promising a post-Trump commitment to the Atlantic Alliance, building bridges with every E.U leader he met... he sure as hell would be my favourite to become the next U.S president now.

The more you read into the tactics and methods of authoritarianism by communist regimes, the more you realise what a mistake it was that we do not teach them more. You clearly see them reflected in modern far-right regimes, like that of Orbán, Putin, and also Trump.
I do, but who's the threat right now? Its right wingers who are embracing fascism while Liberals are talking about who Leftists won't support though. Like bro tell democrats to STEP IT THE FUCK UP AND GIVE THE PEOPLE SHIT TO RALLY AROUND!!!! #MEDICAREFORALL

Thank you California!
Honored to meet with Deputy Governor Oleksandr Kulepin of Lviv, Ukraine to oversee the signing of an MOU between California and Lviv Oblast.

We’re strengthening trade, supporting sustainable reconstruction and economic development, and deepening our sister-state partnership.

This is how you display your thirst for freedom

By being civil & engaging positively with law enforcement who are there to protect

By cleaning up after yourself and commemorating the host country’s flag, not desecrating it

Ladislav Mňačko was a Slovak partisan, and after WW2 a committed Stalinist and communist regime propagandist. Becoming disillusioned with communism in the 1960s, he wrote "The Taste of Power". A novel shaped by his experiences, about how idealists become cynics, sadists, and murderers.

Few things are as frustrating as leftwingers who deny the existence of leftwing authoritarianism. These denials are exactly why morons like Hasan Piker or Calla Walsh exist.

They are far-left.
Absolutely no one should be calling tankie pro-theocrat genocidaires "far left". It's a smear of the Left. Assad, Putin, the mullah's, that's not who we are or what we do. Sorry.
As you probably know, Western far-left social media personalities like Calla Walsh travelled to Iran to do propaganda for the regime. A friend from Iran just told me that they are purposefully kept close by regime officials, as a sort of insurance, so Israeli or U.S air strikes would kill them too.

I don't know how a "communist" could support a theocracy , nor how a "climate activist" could support a petro-state, nor how an educated woman could embrace the mullahs. Absolutely bizarre doublethink worldview is necessary.

I hate Aliyev. Ethnic cleanser, vicious tyrant, and murderer. One day his regime will be overthrown, and we in the West will regret that we made him our ally.
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev said Russia deliberately struck his country’s embassy in Kyiv. He said the building was hit three times and that even after Azerbaijan shared diplomatic coordinates following the first strike, two more attacks occurred. #Ukraine
