A lot of people probably wishing you peace, I'll keep wishing you victory and justice.
Thank you, Kraut! Happy New Year to you too!

Can't stand it when I see people whine about the prospect of a big European war, from somewhere in London, California, France, Spain, or Massachusetts.

If this war widens, it's frontline will be in Poland, the Baltics, and Finland.

Happy New Year.
May your wishes come true and your loved ones be safe.
May Ukraine win and dictatorships around the world fall.
May freedom, health, compassion, and help come to all those who need it.

Such a weird New Year's Eve here in Europe. Everyone knows things are about to get worse. All our elected leaders held speeches telling us that tough times are ahead. But I do not see a sense of despair anywhere. Just a "let's get on with it" sort of mentality.

And if you are wondering if the next year will better or worse: it will be way fucking worse because escalation managers and all sorts of piss-soaked cowards fucked up any chance of any good years. russia is not defeated or punished. china is absolutely not deterred

Not tuned in much into U.S news, but I am pretty sure that a lot that has been happening recently in politics there is a coordinated effort to take down Walz by the Trump administration, because Walz is genuinely popular.

We still have a long way to go until the Russian economy collapses. We are at this point basically waiting for the Russian regime to run out of things to steal from Russians to keep the war going.
Regular russians are already feeling it, some 40% not having enough left after paying for essentials each month. And several big industries such as car manufacturers have been forced into decisions that directly harm their factory workers. And russian banks are already borrowing money that /

Thing is, the war economy is good for the general Russian population, and bad for the oligarchs and state. As long as there are munitions and tanks to make, poor people to pay to make them, oligarchs to take the money from to pay for it, and state assets to spend on it, Russia is fine.

But...
The economic situation is starting to be a bit too much. Not the bombs, not military intervention, but the bad economy takes down the dictators.

What is happening to the Russian economy right now is a sort of wealth redistribution. Putin is taking money from the oligarchs, and giving it to the poor. It's bad, though. Because rather than building infrastructure in what would be a good wealth redistribution, the money is making bombs & shells.
🇧🇪 Belgian PM: "If we use Russian assets to finance the war, then we also assume that the Russians will be exhausted in two years... A tsar like Putin can do everything: starve his people, lead them to the slaughter and organize genocide. But lose the war? He cannot do that."

Funny how Italy's Meloni gave the best new year's speech of all European leaders.

"Next year will be worse, so I recommend you get good rest during the holidays"

I'm in my 30s.

There are strong winds with snow outside. So instead of going to a new year's party, I am staying at home, eating salmon with eggs, and watching Lord of the Rings.

When Assad era government officials turn up in Western countries, the one and only thing those countries should do, is arrest them and hand them over to the new Syrian authorities to support their ongoing war crime investigations into the Assad regime.
