This feels like another bad downstream consequence of the MTA barely expanding the subway in the last eighty years. The expectation should be that everywhere in NYC is either near a subway already or that it will be soon!

The Red-Blue Connector: A half-mile of subway that benefits an entire region  - CommonWealth Beacon
It’s easy to look at the short length of the proposed Red-Blue Connector – less than half a mile – and mistake it for a project with small impact. Nothing could be further from the truth.

So “inclusion” is reduced to representation: a few new examples or texts, while the deeper question - who decides what counts as knowledge - is never asked.

What Zohran Mamdani Teaches Us About the Moral City
His mayoral campaign challenged one of America’s oldest habits: mistaking inequality for inevitability.

This is really what it’s all about. They’re not upset about socialism or whatever. They’re upset that Mamdani represents an upending of traditional influence and city politics. He won’t take their calls because he cares more about people who traditionally can’t get the mayor on the phone.
Canadian multimillionaire and Shark Tank guy Kevin O'Leary went on TV to say he's upset Zohran won't talk to him: "I and others who invest in real estate have tried to get a meeting to figure out what's rhetoric and what's policy. So far for me it's been crickets."

I'm too lazy/out of practice/don't have a license at home to do this properly but close enough for posting work: I overlaid The City's new general election map over their primary map, and turned the general to 70% opacity. This produces four colors.

One thing the mayor-elect could do between now and January 1 is to call on Kathy Hochul to veto the bill on her desk that would ban one-person train operations in the NYC subway. Mamdani was absent the day of the vote, and banning OPTO is incompatible with lower cost (or free) transit.
