Perhaps worth remembering that polls about US intervention in Venezuela conducted before today are no longer informative. Expect public opinion to polarise very quickly (dampening any effect on Americans’ views of Trump):
We were lucky enough to have our YouGov/The Economist poll in field when the US bombed Iranian nuclear facilities. You can see the partisan realignment in real time

THREAD. Every year, I tell the story of Ezell Gilbert. It's the story of one of the most remarkable cases in U.S. history, and you’ve probably never heard of it. The story of what the U.S. government did to him is vital for understanding the current moment we are in.

It's pretty hard to follow up to cool number years like (20 + 25)² = 2025, but I hope you have a great start to 2¹¹ - 2·11 = 505 + 506 + 507 + 508 = 2026. Happy new year! 🥂🍾🎉

(Bonus fun fact: 2026 is the number of disconnected 4-regular graphs on 17 vertices, via oeis.org/A033483 🧐)

Cool! The circles in an Apollonian Gasket can all have an equation of the form (n|x|-a)² + (n|y|-b)² = 1, where n is a positive integer, and a & b are non-negative integers < n. www.desmos.com/calculator/6...

When my father-in-law made another comment about $100k tuition, I made him look up tuition at his undergrad institution, Indiana State Evansville (~$15k before aid if you live at home like he did). And then told him that, like him, most college-goers attend within an hour of home.
I think most researchers and policymakers underestimate how much people really do not understand the difference between college sticker and net price. And the way high prices at a select few influences feelings about all.

If most people active in electoral campaigns thought about campaigns the way @greenbackbetter.bsky.social does here, we could run many more campaigns knowing that we would lose most of them in terms of immediate electoral outcomes but still keep building power so that, one day, we win most of them.

Arguments about “misuse of campaign resources” always smuggle in an accounting assumption that rarely gets defended.
It’s good Kamala Harris spent her money campaigning and not doing mutual aid! Generally we need candidates to try to win!

EXCLUSIVE: We found that Instacart is using AI algorithms to charge customers different prices for the same items.

It's not just online. It's in physical grocery stores too.

Our months-long investigation with @consumerreports.org and @groundwork.bsky.social found it could cost families $1200/year.
