Assistant professor (academic track) at the Computer Graphics and Visualization group of TU Delft, working in the field of #illustratingmath, #dataviz, and #mathart. (he/him) Personal Website: https://ms-math-computer.science
It's great to be at @cirm-math.bsky.social this week with our #illustratingMath graduate school on "Illustration as a Mathematical Research Technique". Looking forward to the trimester with the same name at the Institut Henri Poincaré in Paris, starting right with this graduate school week.
It's time for another year of mathematics (and interactions!) at CIRM.
Here is our scientific program for 2026: conferences.cirm-math.fr/2026-calenda...
See you soon at CIRM!

On day 3 of the #illustratingMath graduate school at @cirm-math.bsky.social, we continue the two mini-courses on #CindyJS and #Shadertoy. In the former, we learn how to draw conics (and how to draw them well). In the latter, it's all about hyperbolic tilings. (1/3)

On the second day of #illustratingMath at @cirm-math.bsky.social, we continue the mini-courses #CindyJS and #Shadertoy: We tackled the scripting abilities of CindyJS and immersed ourselves in the creation of fractals and circle inversions, learning to write functions and structs in #GLSL. (1/3)

TIL that @hermathsstory.bsky.social exists and it's a wonderful platform. Please give them a follow if you care about #DEI in #math.

If you’re at #jmm check out these infinite polyhedra sculptures near the conference center, just south of the Carnegie Apple Store. Sorry I didn’t take photos of them from the outside.

It's pretty hard to follow up to cool number years like (20 + 25)² = 2025, but I hope you have a great start to 2¹¹ - 2·11 = 505 + 506 + 507 + 508 = 2026. Happy new year! 🥂🍾🎉

(Bonus fun fact: 2026 is the number of disconnected 4-regular graphs on 17 vertices, via oeis.org/A033483 🧐)

Here's how the "Quantum Randomness Hitomezashi" embroidery is going so far. Finished the first 6 rows on the x axis, starting 0,1,1,1,0,0,etc. These positions were generated by the first two pulses from @colorado.edu's quantum randomness beacon. #generativedice

Inspired by a zoom talk on Escher-like Spiral Tiling yesterday by @isohedral.ca, wrote some code that's probably not quite working right but it's still pretty fun... Here, the starting tile is a small symmetric Turing Pattern with a little color added. #mathart
