Lots of negative new about climate change. To keep our spirits up: some good news.
Climate Change Upper - Martin Stellinga
Climate change sucks and the news about it too. Today, I want to look at some positive news. Because it isn’t all doom and gloom.

Holy shit, that’s just actual theft.
In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

If you need more proof LLMs affect your critical thinking: you're in line to buy tires and don't realise it is very strange you need your license plate to buy them, and that giving Google access to your private photos and enough info to identify your family, vacation address, and car is a bad idea.
Every example of ai being useful begins with "okay imagine you're in a situation, and you are very dumb"

I installed OSX Tahoe on my Macbook last night. Turns out the Music Player app is now f*cked.
I used the volume slider a lot because it was always on screen. Guess what's now hidden behind a button?
And who wants track info _at the bottom of the screen_?
Why Apple, why?

This, in a nutshell, is my moral case against AI. Defenders like to argue that the AI isn't storing the works because you can't point to them, but that's nonsense; Huffman coding (a ZIP file) doesn't straightforwardly have the encoded data, but it's still THERE.

Yeah... Disney, I don't want daily engagement or daily vertical sh!t. I pay you to watch stuff I like, when _I_ want to watch it, at my leisure, and without wading through 'engaging' garbage. Please don't enshittify that further than you already did.
Disney+ To Add Vertical Videos In Push To Boost Daily Engagement
Looking to boost daily engagement, Disney+ will add vertical videos later this year, Disney announced at its annual Tech + Date Showcase event at CES.

Don’t use gen AI!
You’re saving the environment, helping artists, and saving your own ability for critical thinking.

People do ask (politely) about their work and they can't pitch it because what makes it special is that they are the specialest boy. They go to panels and hear queer and BIPOC writers talk about their work and think "ah ha". +

The US bans ex-EU commissioner for trying to reign in Big Tech.

F*ck Big Tech and the fascist push its making alongside the US government. The EU is still a democracy. Respect that.
