I wrote about how the Everglades experiment fits into the history of concentration camps in the US and abroad, and how it will connect a domestic network of camps to an international one. We’re watching the imposition of a global concentration camp network.
Opinion | Don’t call it ‘Alligator Alcatraz.’ Call it a concentration camp.
This facility’s purpose fits the classic model, and its existence points to serious dangers ahead for the country.

I believe white Europeans overstaying their visas are still the biggest undocumented group in the US.

That's how you know it isn't actually about immigration.
There are 70,000 undocumented Polish people in the US. We haven’t noticed them being swept up here in Chicago, the city said to have the second biggest Polish population after Warsaw.

ICE has been very active in our Latino neighborhoods though.
There are 50,000 undocumented Irish in the USA.

There are no plans to move any of them into FLA concentration camps or El Salvador torture gulags.

And everyone knows why.

really interesting that the vice president cites as a key intellectual influence a guy who thinks black people are natural slaves
Curtis Yarvin, who has been profiled in media like Politico and The Wall Street Journal, has publicly stated in the past that he thinks black people are naturally fit to be slaves.

I've worked for a DV/SA shelter for just about six months now.

Probably a quarter of the calls I've taken on the crisis line have involved an officer as the offender.
🧵This is a terrifyingly real concern and I want people to understand that fully uniformed cops sexually assault women and girls all the time.

ACLU: "One study found that, over a 10-year period, a police officer was caught committing sexual abuse or sexualized misconduct at least every five days."
Jacobs: As a young woman myself, I’m really concerned about someone coming up to you in plain clothes, saying they’re a member of law enforcement, showing no identification, and you’re just supposed to submit.

2. The man is literally an American who was born in Uganda and grew up in South Africa
3. This bullshit hit piece based on a FERPA violation and using intel from a neo-natalist is meant to manipulate Black voters and all commentary should say that
You know, when I heard that all of our personal data had been hacked, I didn't expect the first major use of it to be the NYT trying to fuck over Zohran but maybe I'm naive www.nytimes.com/2025/07/03/n...

I dunno if this is what your experience is Iike, but for people who can see that the US has always been deeply fascist, violent, inequitable, and colonial, watching other people come to the realization that the Dems won’t save us and we need community organizing is actually deeply reassuring.
deeply weird to be in the healthiest and most stable period of your life thus far precisely as the wider world seems to be falling apart

political press is doing a real disservice by basically not reporting the nuances of public opinion on deportations, and creating the appearance that most americans support the stephen miller-style gestapo tactics
Should we deport people who have lived here for many years without committing any crimes? 61% no, 24% yes.

Should we should deport people as quickly as possible even if it means more mistakes, or do our best to make no mistakes even if it takes longer?

Quickly: 19%
Minimize mistakes: 74%
