You know that scene in Independence Day when the alien kills everyone in the Operating Room and Bill Pullman sees what the aliens are up to? Travelling from planet to planet to subjugte the population and extract resources. That’s the US with countries right now.

Way better, baby. 🖤🖤🖤
The point of the AI project is to provoke despair in creative people. They haven’t produced profits or anything anyone wants, just a steady stream of articles about how us artistic types can’t do the thing we’re already doing, making art. Jokes on them, we’re even better at despair than they are.

For a v long time, I conflated "person who can make good art" with "person who has a functioning moral compass." I think that transference (based on appreciation, love, enthusiasm) is something a lot of us do. It hurts a lot when we find that our appreciation was hijacked so someone can do bad shit.

Of course I've seen Heated Rivalry. And read the book. It’s just very exciting to have it available legally in Germany so that the Russian is probably subtitled. Especially because they made the majority of changes to the book in the Russian bits.

While reporting this, I had something happen that's never happened. A comms rep for one of the co's disputed my reporting and said what I was telling them was untrue because it was not in Grok, xAI's chatbot.

I was looking directly at the files. And this person was using AI to challenge the truth.
Epstein had many known connections to Silicon Valley CEOs, but less known was how he made money from those relationships.

We did a deep dive into how he got dealflow in Silicon Valley, giving him shots to invest in Coinbase, Palantir, SpaceX and other companies.

Germ theory denialist... I honestly didn’t know that was a thing.
Total quack 🦆, though at least not FOJ (friend of Jeff) like the other dude hired. Glad I have an upcoming docuseries on longevity for @cnn.com Originals that is 1. Science based 2. Talks to real experts 3. For the rest of us normies 4. 💯 Epstein free www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

That Chappelle guy and Ricky Gervais. So woke.
A U.S. Senator just called Netflix "the woke-est content in the history of the world," which is laughable as all get out. But let's play along and assume it was true: Netflix is by far the most popular streamer in the U.S. and the world. So...Americans must really love "woke"? 🤔

see also: Neil deGrasse Tyson. no matter how many times I post or make videos about the women who came forward about his behavior, tons of people are always hearing about it for the first time. it’s not even an “open secret” in scicomm because it’s not a secret!
A tough one to sit with--but we must--is that some people's ability to make good art in part derived from, or was protected by, the fact that they were enabling or doing terrible things. See also: We Need to Talk about Cosby doc. Even more troubling on this score: Read deep reporting on Alice Munro
"actually his stuff was very Derivative and not Original" like, you don't have to do this. it is good for us all to sit with the cognitive dissonance that a very bad person can make very good art. it is good for us to work through the moral ramifications of that.

On Netflix in Germany, thre is season 2 of The Newsreader with Anna Torv and Sam Reid (but not 1 or 3). I have to say, watching both is a joy. And how young was Anna Torv when she did Fringe and what did they do to her aging process?

Looks like we need another MeToo. The Epstein system looks so similar to Weinstein, and I'm so convinced we would have shrugged it all off without MeToo. It will ne hard enough without a central social media platform we are all on.

I'm re-listening to Ronan Farrow's Catch & Kill about Weinstein (I only have it as audio book), which just reminds me how much we've been here before. The powerful men. The exploitation. The media cover up. The search for Trump's favour.

first of all, New York Times v. Sullivan (1964) established a high standard for public officials who wanna sue for defamation, so jot that down

second of all, baybee the discovery in such a lawsuit?? you really want to hand over to Trevor any evidence relating to the truthfulness of the claim?? lol
President Trump is threatening to sue Trevor Noah over a joke at last night's Grammy Awards, saying that Noah's crack claiming he visited Jeffrey Epstein's island was "false and defamatory."

President Donald Trump called the joke, which Noah made at last night's Grammy Awards, "false and defamatory," again insisting he has never visited Jeffrey Epstein's island.

No one who has seen the Epstein case unfold should have any doubt left about why victims don’t report. When reporting means facing more abuse, more exploitation, and more betrayal at the institutional level, while the perpetrators are the leaders of the very systems of “justice” supposed to help you

I am once again begging everyone to remember, once the WGA and SAG-AFTRA contract negotiations begin, that *this* is how the trades we rely on operate
In case you ever needed proof that the mainstream media is a complicit arm of propaganda for a fascist regime and deserves no credibility or respect.

Not framing a reported $75m movie making $7m as a flop, but as a triumph and a record breaker. In a headline-over-article world, this matters.

1. The new batch of Epstein documents helps illuminate one contemporary controversy: What is Bari Weiss up to at CBS? I think the answer is she is trying to rehabilate the Epstein network as a bulwark of reactionary centrism. Let me explain.
