Yeah, because it's a really new thing that nobody can believe. Farage racist? Are you saying a racist fundamentally influenced the Brexit campaign? Are you saying Brexit or Reform voters do so for racist reasons? Is that what the annual 'protests' against people with different skin colour are about?
No 10 calls on Farage to urgently address ‘disturbing allegations’ of past racist behaviour
Keir Starmer ramps up pressure on Reform leader, who has dismissed claims as ‘one person’s word against another’

The latest Cloudflare and Amazon outages have got me thinking about utilities. We can't build modern software without dependencies. The days of running entirely on the client are over, which I see as a good thing. The cost is that we rely on infrastructure.

I've never seen an adaptation of Wuthering Heights. It’s one of my favourite books, but it’s just not a love story and adaptations have that thrust to gloss over domestic violence and necrophilia to see people as 'flawed' rather than horrible. You know, not watching is an option.

1) this from @marisakabas.bsky.social is good as always

2) as she lays out, part of the problem is there is an entire class of journalist and of publication that is obsessed…OBSESSED with access. if access can be taken away then you need to pull punches

Moral rot in elite journalism is killing the whole field
The Nuzzi/RFK Jr. mess and the revelation of Esptein's journo pals lay bare a profound moral absence at the heart of our free press.

just remembered that alan rusbridger vetoed stephen frears making the lead character in tamara drewe (2010) a guardian journalist partly because she sleeps with a source, meaning that fictional journalists are apparently held to higher standards than real-life vanity fair editors

In April 2009, the Washington Post asked 10 writers to make the case for something that deserves to be tossed out as part of "spring cleaning."

I chose Larry Summers.

💰New revelation on the Orbán family’s €30m dacha, which Viktor Orbán insists is only his old father’s agricultural site: a witness testimony reveals that his son-in-law’s company BDPST Group (known for developing luxury hotels and mansions) maintains the property.

Stop turning this into a political issue, it’s not.

The Epstein files aren’t a partisan story; they’re a predator story.

This is about victims, truth, and exposing an entire network that operated above the law.

And the people who enabled it came from every corner of power.

Disney+ is gaslighting me. I was watching Scrubs on Friday and it cut out mid-sentence. Later, Scrubs was gone from the platform. On Saturday, it was back. Sunday: gone again. I guess we'll see if it’s there or not today.

Every time I watch The Usual Suspects, I remember that there was a music video (Snoop Dogg, I think?) that spoiled the ending.

When a far right pundit on a CNN panel with me ‘joked’ about my beeper going off live on air & then got banned by CNN, Megyn Kelly had him on her show & they both laughed about it.

Yet here is Kelly getting super offended when someone else makes the beeper threat against her. Oh, the hypocrisy.

Michael Wolff wrote about streaming before he wrote about Trump or we knew about him talking to Epstein. It’s a very angry book that argues streaming needs ad breaks to finance itself. And yes, he was right, but please stop quoting him.

Motherfucker this isn't philosophy. Its medical science. "Your feelings" and anecdotal experiences simply do not factor into it, it's a fact.

Zeteo scoop on a "bonkers" national security strategy draft:
Trump’s Unpublished National Security Strategy Is Stephen Miller’s Far-Right Wet Dream
The president’s new national-security draft document rants against migration and cultural “erasure” – and endorses far-right political parties abroad, sources tell Zeteo.

The Fall Guy is very far from the series (not even the song - at least not the version from the TV series. Not the 'I'm not one to kiss & tell, but I've been seen with Farah'), but it's actually a good film.

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.
