Confining your interest in cinema to the time you’ve been alive and in the language that you speak is spiritual deprivation

Watch all of these. You can skip MANIAC COP 3 if you really want, but the rest are so worth your time, especially MANIAC COP 2. Bless @criterion.bsky.social for putting this together.

I wish Jennifer Jason Leigh in THE HATEFUL EIGHT was embraced as one of the best female antagonists in recent movie history. An amazing villain in an ensemble with no heroes. This moment alone is never far from my mind.

Daisy Domergue hive rise up.

People who think Kurosawa is “homework cinema” need to be slapped around a bit.
so cool that when Kurosawa made Seven Samurai, he was like, "What if a movie absolutely ripped for three-and-a-half hours straight?"

I watched, ranked, and reviewed every Don Bluth directorial feature on Letterboxd, and we did multiple Stallone flicks on @genrevision.com (COP LAND, COBRA, FIRST BLOOD PART II, OVER THE TOP).

What matters most is this: watch COP LAND. Don't watch THE PEBBLE AND THE PENGUIN.

“Homework cinema” is not Kurosawa or Bergman or Ozu or whoever, “Homework cinema” is the MCU

For those who (apparently) misunderstood.

Of course there are tons of other movies to watch this year. I'd love to live in a world where PRIMATE gets to dominate discussion by releasing tons of trailers over a year, and everyone tells me to shut up because I'm not stoked about PRIMATE.

Long year.
It's going to be a long, long, long year for those of us who don't care about DisneyMarvel. Please consider us during this difficult period.

Every AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY teaser makes me think about COUPON: THE MOVIE. "Warm... and mandatory."

I don't keep up with video games enough to do any substantial end-of-year list, but off the top of my head, these are my favorite games from 2025.

No particular order, but HADES II is an all-timer and will likely end up as one of my personal all-timers.

This looks like one of the aberrant species of fish you find in DREDGE.

[yes, I'm replaying DREDGE for the fourth or fifth time]
One summer when I was younger I found wind Waker on GameCube very cheap. I managed to scrounge up a GameCube and leads, the only thing I couldn't get was a controller. All I had was this

Where have you gone, Shosanna Dreyfus? Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
Actually we should talk about this because we never include this woman in the "Good for her" universe, she fucking lures Hitler and the Nazi who killed her family and then torches them to death and filmed a final version and was like fuck it like..... Y'all sleep on my girl

*sigh* I don't need to watch this. I'm a grown adult. No matter how much I like Mega Man, this is for children.

[pushes "play" and hears the theme song is a riff on the MEGA MAN 2 title screen]

Move over, CITIZEN KANE. Real cinema just showed up.

It'd be nice to see some prominent entertainment outlets and writers take a stand in 2026 and respond to PR teams that they won't engage with anything to do with X.

"It's a CSAM-creating site and any business using it is supporting such material."

Tell that to the rep for your MERCY screening.

It's amazing how many corporations -- much less private individuals -- still believe they need to stay active on the white nationalist forum and CSAM generator.

Sure, you may have succeeded in blocking yourself from seeing these things there, but all of us still see you there alongside those things
so x dot com’s ai generated CSAM and they admitted it may violate US law and … i haven’t seen in anyone in power say much at all or call to stop using the platform

RIP Yuen clan choreographer, stuntman, and occasional director Yuen Cheung-Yan, who you can see with his brother Yuen Woo-Ping as members of SUPER INFRAMAN’s Science Team. Cheung-Yan also directed the tasteless, surreal, jaw dropping martial arts comedy DAOISM DRUNKARD, a teenage rite of passage.

Remember kids, in the year of our Lord 2026, if you see someone stealing food, NO YOU FUCKING DIDN’T
So someone was unsuccessful in trying to steal $300 worth of food from a business owned by the Sobey family (net worth $5.5 billion), and the cops thought it warranted a news release

In 2026 I want all of the decent people to remember one thing.

You aren’t meant to be this disciplined, this self-sacrificing to survive. The environment is supposed to support good living. We can have that. You are not a failure. That is politics.

That is all.
