Hot take? HELLBOY > HELLBOY II

I dig 2 a ton. However, its indulgent aspects take it more into del Toro's whimsical preferences. I like those, but the first film nails the pulp comic book vibe so well. It's still the best outright Hellboy movie and a standout of the 2000s superhero boom.

This sounds like it has the potential to be the best thing the DCU does yet.
If this new HBO Max mockumentary docuseries with Jimmy Olsen as host is going to spend a whole season on Gorilla Grodd, there's almost no way this show doesn't stealthily introduce the DCU version of The Flash, since he's Grodd's main squeeze. nerdist.com/article/jimm...

I'd love to program a meta-horror two-night double feature.

Night 1: NEW NIGHTMARE/FUNNY GAMES

Night 2: CABIN IN WOODS/RESOLUTION

Everyone needs to play Cryptmaster. Heck, it might be time to give it a replay.
(And if you haven't played Cryptmaster yet—consider doing that! It's great! You get absolutely golden moments like this one without any GenAI fuckery involved!)

I love every time @pattonoswalt.bsky.social pops up on @trailersfromhell.bsky.social — I still have PALE FLOWER on the watchlist! — and I love seeing him give the spotlight to THE LAST STOP IN YUMA COUNTY. A must-see pulp twister and a fave from the last few years.

"Thank you so much for showing me FRANKENWEENIE. It meant a lot."

Fucking hell, THE CHAIR COMPANY fires so many sniper laughs that killshot me.

Probably a great time to remind up and coming people making or writing things about games... social media is not your primary audience.

It was true on the old site and it's true on this site too.

Creatives need your support. If you have the means, maybe consider signing up for a Patreon. Buy a book, a game, a painting. Commission a new piece. Tell a creator what they mean to you. Signal boost their work.

I saw SERENITY six years ago and I've never been able to forget it, but for all the wrong reasons. This was my second viewing and almost assuredly my last.
"What Were They Thinking?" Month is only two movies in and SERENITY (2019) already threatens to break Drew and Travis.

I dunno what the consensus is on GOTHIC, if there is one as I rarely see it mentioned. Figured it might get some play with a new, big FRANKENSTEIN out there.

This is the first "arthouse" film I ever saw, so I'll admit foundational bias, but I love GOTHIC.

There's a lot I like about THE BRIDE at a conceptual level, but there are just way too many disparate recipes being brought to this table.

Still, justice for Clancy Brown's Viktor.

It's very fun seeing Gilligan get to fully embrace horror instead of sneaking it into crime fare like a pill in a dog's treat.
PLURIBUS is really intriguing, but also filled with cool ass Vince Gilligan shots. He’s giving us the good shit once again and we love it

I might have a stronger preference for other Bakshi flicks, but there's no denying this is his masterwork.

Allegedly, Sydney Sweeney's next movie is going to be a remake. She's determined to prove she isn't box office poison, so she's remaking the one movie that ensures her fan base will show up on opening weekend.
