The reality, of course, is that Miller and a significant portion of Trump’s base are the ones who failed to assimilate to America’s post-WWII culture of multi-racial democracy & religious pluralism…and they are now using their power to destroy that once dominant (and still popular) American culture.
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

As I always do with boycotts, I urge: be tough with corporations, gentle with individual buyers. For some people, Black Friday sales are the way they get their kids jackets that fit, shoes that hold up to the weather. Yelling at them doesn’t help the cause.

This is fundamentally Nazism. The idea that different peoples than the favored races carry degradation in their very genes, that they cannot strive to become better because biology compels them to be worse. It’s not just repugnant, it’s a bald faced lie.

This guy's entire life was aimed toward the singular goal of being elected president, was ridiculously qualified for the job, lost to a dipshit because of the Supreme Court's interference, and instead of saying "fuck it, I'm done," spent the next three decades being dedicated to climate advocacy.

I wrote about Oura's security and privacy practices earlier this year for this.weekinsecurity.com, and found:

• Oura rings *don't* end-to-end encrypt users' health data;
• Oura *can* access its users' data;
• Oura told me that the company *has* received U.S. government demands for users' data.

I have not been able to stop thinking about this part of Brian's piece on the Nuzzi affair.

I've edited a few abjectly terrible writers who have nonetheless been published in Forbes, Vulture, et al

It's been clear to me for years that these outlets have editors that sandblast bad writing

This is a key point. Where I'm hearing people praising/using AI in healthcare, education and therapy settings it's not because AI makes their work more inclusive, rigorous, ethical, or engaging. It's because they're so overwhelmed they want to offset as much work as possible just to keep swimming.
There is one more post to be written here, about how AI is now often an austerity technology, inserted into a human process to compensate for the fact that there is just not enough time and money, and many workers are expected to do more and more with less and less.

I was at a conference on Weds about use of AI in public services and noticed how AI as sticky tape over broken systems is becoming the norm, designing or implementing better systems is becoming more and more of a luxury.

If people in your team or organisation are using AI notetakers as a way of coping with too many meetings and a culture of presenteeism, there's not a technological fix for this. The answer is to have fewer, better organised meetings www.careful.industries/blog/2025-11...
