US copyright law is getting even more bizarre. One gets the impression that a certain type of American jurist doesn't read anything outside of work anymore or have any interactions with human beings who do so.

This may be paywalled for some but it's worth a read: it separates the AI sheep from the AI goats in the publishing/media biz. It's a fetid slaughterhouse out there, 61% of professional authors (mostly PR/marketing/advert wallahs) use AI in some fashion.

New Report Examines Writers’ Attitudes toward AI
A study commissioned by the Gotham Ghostwriters and Bernoff.com found that while 61% of professional writers are embracing AI tools, authors, specifically fiction authors, are much more wary.

I'd like to add J.-C. Valtat's New Venice to the list of weird cities.
Weird cities! I do love weird cities.
This is a good article built on a good list. It makes no claim to exhaustiveness and invites additions. I would add:
The city of Mary Gentle's novel Rats and Gargoyles.
M. John Harrison's Viriconium.
Patricia McKillip's Ombria (her novel Ombria in Shadow)

What's the weirdest fictional city you've ever encountered? How does it stack up against these 8 deeply strange settings from the work of Vajra Chandrasekera, Clive Barker, Hiron Ennes, and more?

That event takes place on occasion of the 150th anniversary (on 25th of October 2026) of the naming of Lewis Carroll and Henry Holiday's tragicomedy "The Hunting of the Snark". Is that Munich artists society the only one worldwide where that anniversary (snrk.de/150th-snark-...) is celebrated?
