This couplet from Vayalar has been on my mind lately. I fell in love with it the first time I heard it, ages ago. Its essence is what I’ve believed in all my life.

"സ്നേഹിക്കയില്ല ഞാന്‍ നോവുമാത്മാവിനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചിടാത്തൊരു തത്വശാസ്ത്രത്തെയും”

Poorly translated as:

“I will not love a philosophy that does not love the suffering soul”

My default position on TikTok is that every video I see is someone saying whatever shit they think will go most viral with 0% overlap with their actual beliefs and information levels
All right, this just about wrecked me

I'm sure we've all seen the graphic that lays out the United States ' relationship with slavery. It's good, but I never thought it was quite impactful enough. So I made my own.

I've used a few key events, including my birth, to highlight how recent these events are in history.

1 square = 1 year.

Let me just make a few little adjustments to that title…

“How a scientist with a PhD in Geology and 25 years of experience is helping lead California’s earthquake work”

Way to devalue my experience.

Bloomberg today- hey let’s ignore that and here’s a puff piece about how X is not toxic sewer that exists to spread Musk’s white replacement insanity, but soon to be the everything app!

It’s how we got here.

This is exactly what the RSS did. Took them nearly a century but that parallel society ate the Republic of India.
I may say more later but part of what some of us need to understand is that the right has built an entirely distinct civic society, with its own hierarchy and (mostly networked) cultural institutions. That includes celebrity.
“The convergence of influencer culture and venture capital is part of a broader shift reshaping America’s institutions.”
