I promise this question is from a genuine place: Can someone explain to me why Emily Brontë and her sisters used the umlaut (ë) instead of the acute accent (é), which seems entirely more proper in this instance?

Wuthering Heights is more contrived than Wes Anderson, Rajamouli, Lanthimos and Barry Lyndon 📽️ combined. Can’t believe I got sucked in by the marketing.

It stinks.

Late show—not many people for Valentine’s. In fact, all the local theaters are closing early tonight. Not a great night for movies 📽️ in America.

Time to find out how bad this really is.

OK, WTF, has Casablanca 📽️ been a Valentine’s movie this whole time and I just didn’t know itttt??????????

The evidence suggests relationships with age gaps are relatively happy and last just as long. They do bring some risks, however
Age gaps in relationships are not as bad as you think
On screen and in real life, they are getting smaller anyway

After almost 84 years, it strikes me that we *still* don’t know the end of the story.

Who’s coming for us?
February 15, 2026 at 3:00 AM
Seated and ready—in the best seat in the house—for the best WWII movie ever made, Casablanca 📽️. 1942. English, German, French, Italian. Hollywood.

Glorious black & white

dir. Michael Curtis

starring Humphrey Bogart
Ingrid Bergman
and Paul Henreid

With Dooley Wilson
Peter Lorre
and
Claude Rains

BE STILL, MY HEART.

What a Valentine’s Day gift Regal Theaters has given us. Move over, Wuthering Heights 📽️ and Border 2 📽️; another day with you. I might have to see Casablanca twice, because I’ve never seen it on the big screen before. Today only. #FilmSky

If you want to see some scenes of hilarity today: Go to your local Costco (or supermarket) and just sort of linger near the flower case.

I’m waiting on a script during the lunch hour—it’s amazing.

This week’s Starfleet Academy starts with a sex scene and then proceeds to get darker and darker from there. We’re only six episodes in, so I’m not completely sold on it yet, but if you’re avoiding the latest Star Trek because you’re afraid it’s like DISCO, I’m telling you, it’s not that. 🖖 #TrekSky

have to hand it to him, murphy's little chuckle at "your contention is that white food... is being erased?" is great
Trump nominated a legit white nationalist to a top post at the State Department. I asked him some basic questions about his belief in the “erasure of white culture”. Watch this embarrassing, fumbling answer. Like he has never before been asked to explain his views.

Oh no
Would not have bet on "G.O.A.T." getting significantly better reviews than "Wuthering Heights"

🎶All my mornings are Mondays / Stuck in an endless February 🎶

There’s a low-fi instrumental version of this song playing as a bumper on SXM Chill, and I have repeatedly failed to track it down. Attempt #47 at least.

Another late night lost in America. Everyone I ghosted, &c.

For anyone following the El Paso story, CNN just updated its live coverage with more information than anyone else has, even Reuters. Follow their coverage here:

El Paso TFR is not like the 9/11 nationwide airspace shutdown. DC & NY restrictions were created later. A ban on all flights over a U.S. city—including medevac and police helicopters—has no modern precedent.-CNN

The FAA has issued a separate security NOTAM for Santa Teresa, New Mexico, banning all flight operations in the affected area for the same time window and altitude limits as the El Paso airspace closure, citing “special security reasons.”

Just got this notification from @economist.com. Oppenheimer’s quote before TPTB took him down—more relevant now than ever, and now, there are more than two scorpions in the bottle. And Margot Robbie has a new movie premiering this weekend.

Barbenheimer was a warning we didn’t heed.

Opened Bsky to post about it, and this is the first post I saw. The initial reviews are TARE-EE-BEE-LAY. And even though I’ve never read it or seen any screen adaptation of Wuthering Heights, I’m still hoping to see it this weekend 🤞. (I didn’t see Saltburn 📽️, which people I trust and like *hated*)
I think the problem with most Wuthering Heights screen adaptations is they they strip down a layered and blistering take on class politics , intimate partner abuse , abuse , mental health and patriarchy into an emotional what love story which is not what the novel is .
