Drug trafficking is not a capital crime; it doesn’t carry a death sentence. I genuinely cannot think of anything under U.S. law that would permit premeditated government assassination of people suspected of drug trafficking.
Here's the video Trump just posted to Truth Social, with the claim that 11 people aboard the boat were killed.
There is zero evidence of self-defense here. Looks like a massacre of civilians at sea.
Even if they had drugs aboard, that's not a capital offense.

I try to think about it this way, at a team scale. If you take all 119 games played thus far, jumbled them up in random order, what would be the narrative about this team? A mediocrely constructed team has had mediocre results. Rather than, why did a great team turn bad with mostly the same players.

The Wolves have seemingly every circumstantial advantage in their series against the Warriors. But the more I looked at the matchup, the better I felt about Golden State’s chances.

in the spirit of self-crit: in past years I have certainly been among those who have been vocally skeptical of the role of law and lawyers in meaningfully constraining armed agents of the state. but I do think we have to hand it to lawyers at this time
By my count, there had been 103 lawsuits filed in the last 20 days, and judges had issued 50 restraining orders requiring the Trump administration to reverse the terminations. Those decisions came in more than 23 states. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

So the US is now kidnapping whole families and trafficking them to random countries that the US has coerced into imprisoning them for some unspecified period of time
Unreal. The US government is dumping Asian and African families and children in random countries that they have no connection to. Dumping, not "deporting." Deportation implies the return of a person to their home country. This is treating people like toxic waste.

Anybody seen any good op-eds on how Kendrick's halftime show is probably the biggest platform any artist is going to get in the near future to entrench or oppose fascism? Like the combo of Super Bowl rematch + Not Like Us + Trump attending is really a perfect storm.

In other words, it goes against a whole lot of folks’ stated principles.

I think a clear concrete question people who are worried about the present political trajectory can ask themselves is "how can I support AFSCME and AFGE?"
AFSCME and AFGE, whose members are federal workers, filed a lawsuit today against the Trump administration’s efforts to politicize the civil service. “Together, we are fighting back,” said AFSCME President Lee Saunders. www.afscme.org/blog/afscme-...

I guess I'm too woke because I find the proliferation of this really off-putting and gross. The fact that it's now reached the "enlightened centrists" class is depressing.
