Seeking warmer places
ICE/BP’s next targets are reportedly Charlotte and New Orleans.

Two things:

1) If they had the capacity to hit many cities at once, rather than pick on one or two at a time, they would.

2) Moving south seems to confirm speculation that they’re leaving Chicago because it got cold.

The sheer number of people Trump pardoned — 1,500+ — and the magnitude of violence many (most?) of them committed means it is statistically likely that a fair number will be revidivists, potentially for more egregious crimes. The pardons should be a top story EVERY DAY
Welcome to “justice” in Donald Trump’s America.

I’ve been interested in political speeches for as long as I can remember. I’ve listened to nearly every inaugural and major address, and I’ve given tons of public speeches myself.

Zohran’s talent in this arena ranks among the best. He’s damn good. Hella good. Remarkably good.

Crazy to watch.

Yes. All of this.
This!! We need food banks *and* mutual aid groups *and* community fridges *and* micropantries *and* people cooking meals for their friends/neighbors *and* direct donations to people in need.

A diverse ecosystem of care will help as many people as possible survive.
People will STARVE unless we show up now.

All hands on deck. Food banks may be the first line of defense but they cannot be the only one.

Don't know if anyone's written on this, but I am fascinated by how Mamdani is freed up politically bc he is an immigrant who cannot ever be president. So he's not caught up in that fantasy, nor trapped on the limited political path of imperialism and nationalism that requires (like Sanders & AOC)
It’s quite impressive how Mamdani has pulled almost every Dem into his coalition, not him into theirs. He keeps the door open for everyone but true enemies (Adams, Cuomo) & rather than try to extort a Hochul into a promise, he just puts her onstage & lets the popular will confront her. Amazing.
