This seems to be a common misconception. *There is nowhere to go* for most faculty & staff. The academic labor market is incredibly inflexible even in good times, we haven't been in good times for decades, and we're now in a *contracting* phase, not expanding. For most people, there's nowhere to go.

Democrats Can't Blame Trans People for Their Own Failures
Despite the attempts by so many in the party's establishment to paint trans rights as a toxic issue, transphobia was soundly rejected across the country this week.

6-yr-old is ecstatic about Zohran's win because she hopes it means that the Zohran Mamdani Skate Park, a stop she recently added to her toy train route, will become a reality.

I just caught her staring into space whispering "Zohran Mamdani Skate Park. Zohran Mamdani Skate Park" over and over again.

For years, but especially for the past year, Democrats have been in thrall to the idea that they need to chase an imagined median voter, and adopt that voter’s positions. Mamdani’s victory shows another way: hold principles, and persuade people to share them.

It wasn’t the feds —  it was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for help.

He let them hide in his unit for the next 3 days.

A good step—but as pointed out in @karaswisher.bsky.social’s devastating interview with Adam Raine’s parents last week, do you want your 18-year-old coaxed away from social engagement and advised on a successful suicide either? The problems with this tech are deeper than an age problem
ChatGPT now has parental controls. The new features came after a wrongful-death lawsuit was filed against OpenAI by the parents of Adam Raine, a 16-year-old who died in April. ChatGPT had supplied Adam with information about suicide methods, his parents said. Here's what to know about the controls.
What We Know About ChatGPT’s New Parental Controls
OpenAI said parents can set time and content limits on accounts and receive notifications if ChatGPT detects signs of potential self-harm.

regrettably if you try to point this out online you'll get yelled out by 79208 journalists going OH SO YOU WANT JOURNALISTS TO STARVE??? even if you're, say, a journalist yourself, and point out that while there are clearly no easy answers, the status quo isn't exactly working for society
