It’s not a great deal if you don’t need it. And especially this year, others really need support. So for all of us who have enough, let’s refuse to get sucked into the holiday shopping frenzy and share instead of shop. We don’t need more stuff, we need communities where all our neighbors are safe.

The exhale of relief from my 7yo when Baby-Sitter's Club conflicts are resolved is truly amazing. I love her big heart and I love that the graphic adaptations have brought them to a whole new audience.

Bluesky not addictive to teens but definitely a crutch for elder millennials who know too much about the Bajoran war.

Meta, YouTube, TikTok and Snapchat know how addictive their platforms can be to teens.

Those are allegations a group of school districts is making against the social media giants, according to a newly unsealed legal filing that quotes the companies’ own internal documents. https://cnn.it/3Xjq5x5

Thanksgiving-Cyber Monday, my wallet's ignoring Target, Home Depot, & Amazon. I'm tired of corporations enabling this administration ditching DEI, allowing ICE to terrorize our communities, & chase tax breaks. Join me! #WeAintBuyingIt 🚫 app.sosha.ai/s/w3jyIqp2

A reminder that gas-powered leafblowers are nightmare devices that are bad for you, bad for your lawn, and very bad for the environment. They fume and scream and kill the world all so you can messily and ineffectively move leaves around, leaves which are generally supposed to stay where they fell.

Ha HA! I beat the charge based on total inability to keep plants alive.
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

but now we need an Abbott and Costello equivalent to meet them all in 2027

My car blanket (a heavy felt University of Iowa piece) has been in the family since the early 90s at least. Maybe longer based on the style of the Hawkeye logo. Four cars and three states later it's still protecting the roof of the car from Christmas tree branches.
I’ve done this for decades. I’m not a great prepper but I’ve owned a lot of raggedy cars. It paid to be prepared. Now the car blanket (as I refer to it) mostly serves as an emergency picnic item but you never know.
If you can, try to keep a blanket in your car for emergencies. You just never know.

Absolutely cannot wait to bust down the doors for a drink made by a company whose unionized workers are on strike in a store that doesn’t want to hire minorities anymore.
Beginning Monday, a Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate drink will be available exclusively at Starbucks cafés inside Target stores.

The chains are hoping the drink can drum up excitement from customers this holiday season.

unforgivable web/app UX trend: the thing where the minute you start typing a search, results start showing up every time you add a letter and, inevitably, everything lags the fuck out

i should not have to write my search terms in notepad and copy-paste them in!!! 🫠
