A genuinely alarming piece in the NYT about how the developers, scientists and assorted techbros behind "AI companions"/"synthetic care" do not even know or understand the potential harms of the tech they're developing but they're too greedy to stop themselves from developing it.

this seems... good? is that the word? I haven't used it in a while so...
In incredible news, the European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly for "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women."

Even the center-right European People's Party voted for the declaration.

It will form a foundation for their position at the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

Our latest.

The resolution, though nonbinding, is a significant shot at those who seek to erode transgender rights on the continent.

ALSO the guy they put front and center HAS NOT BEEN ELECTED FOR ANYTHING.

But they are putting him in same league as people of color who actually won their elections— and one of whom, Rep. Crockett, has been fighting against this regime continuously.

Facebook plans to put facial recognition in its glasses and they think we’re too stupid to fight back.

Their internal memo: “We will launch during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.”

Distressing. if not wholly surprising, news via new Telefilm report: Box office for Canadian films fell 40.9% in 2025 from year before, with homegrown movies capturing just 1.7% of Cdn market (down from 2.8% in 2024). 2025 was third-lowest performing year of decade for Cdn film, following '20 & '22.

This is good energy
This is for people who need honesty:

Do you want to help but don't know how? Have you not volunteered since community service was required in high school but want to? Do you desperately want to do something but the idea of giving up your only free time is a big hurdle?

I got you.

I was told my entire life I couldn't have autism bc of SBC "extreme male brain" stereotypes and I was a girly girl reading college level at 3rd grade and yet failing math.
They didn't know what to do with me except tell me I was a lazy little shit and acting stupid on purpose. Especially men
the people who spread the “female brains are bad at math and spatial reasoning” lies should be tried at the Hague
Another fun wrinkle from that period (that might still exist): I was good at math and loved it and then my geometry teacher told me that I'd probably struggle because female brains were bad at spatial thinking. I kept loving math & being good at it but assumed that would end so I ended it first.

I've boosted it all I can.
I just want everyone to know that the creator of one of our favorite whistles (the micro bitonal) is a very nice man in Italy who has been messaging me asking if there are things he can tweak in the next version he is designing mostly to help us mass produce these more efficiently to fight ICE.
