It's easy to forget now but we had decades of steady advancement on trans rights. The 2016 bathroom bills invited huge backlash! It was only after the media constructed sports and youth medications as 'debates' that opposition moved from the far right to the polite center.
The repression of trans people is not, by and large, a grassroots outpouring of hatred from the American people. It's something that's been carefully planted and tended over years by a handful of media people and their pet reporters.

If you are a cis person *please* take 2 minutes to do this. Trans people with non-updated gender markers, historical gender marker changes, and X markers are terrified to travel right now; rolling back this policy would mean a lot.
Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes.
You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment.
My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc.

And this is why Dems have an approval rating in the literal toilet stuffed in the bottom of a burning dumpster. Their refusal to do anything and adhere to norms when the other side is breaking them left and right is absurd given the stakes.
Absolutely. The degree to which congressional Dems should break the norms they've respected in the past ought to be proportional to the threat posed by what the administration is now doing, and that threat is unlike anything we've ever seen.
Dems should take a hard line: no CRs or debt ceiling increases without full reinstatement of fired federal employees with back pay and an independent special prosecutor that Trump can't fire to investigate what happened over the last week with Musk.

Bragging about increasing the number of suicides among kids isn't the flex the administration thinks it is. It's really despicable that so many people have been brainwashed by the right wing media machine into thinking this is anything other than denying life saving treatment to teens that need it.
NEW: The Trump administration is now bragging about hospitals that are preemptively pausing, reviewing, or stopping gender-affirming medical care for those under 19 following Trump's anti-trans executive order relating to health care, asserting, "Promises made, promises kept."
