you don't become a martyr because you were a saint, you become a saint because you were martyred
I agree that we can’t make Alex Pretti a Benedictine monk because that’s a trap, but we can talk about the good things we did because people will see and hear them and think “I do those things too”

Kyle Rittenhouse was on Infowars the day after the Renee Good shooting saying he had heard on X that Renee was putting cigarettes out on her kids. This wasn't true. This is a government by and for school shooters and their apologists.
Remembering how cops tossed Kyle Rittenhouse - who was open carrying a semiautomatic rifle - a bottle of water and told him, “We appreciate you… we really do”

When you got nothing
You got nothing to lose

Some learned the wrong lesson from this.
Really hard to look at this and all the other examples of bravery and kindness from ordinary people in this moment not think also of the tremendous cowardice exhibited over the past year by some of the richest, most well-protected people in business, media and politics
Let us all have the courage displayed by the residents of Minneapolis.

i think this attitude — that all opposition is illegitimate and nothing we do can be questioned— is probably pervasive in the white house and helps explain why they keep making terrible political choices
Putin pioneered this. No opposition is legitimate. Regular, decent, “ordinary” people cannot possibly be against us because only we represent “the real people.”

Tell-tale sign of authoritarianism.

From the woods of Bastogne to Lake of the Woods.
Nuts.
Fox News: "I've gotten my hands that AG Bondi said she sent to Gov. Tim Walz. It is strongly worded. The AG calls for the governor to support the men and women of ICE, to repeal the state's sanctuary policies, and to allow the DOJ to access state voter rolls."

I was a sensitive kid. I loved cats. I had OCD, undiagnosed.

When I was 9, a fraternity brother tortured a cat to death in my hometown. The details even now are beyond imagination. archive.is/xdmUL

I was traumatized for years from reading the news story.

The torturer? Now the head of the NRA.

The people who spent years defending and even lionizing Kyle Rittenhouse and Ashli Babbitt now want us to believe that an unarmed mother in her car and a disarmed nurse were domestic terrorists who deserved to be murdered by law enforcement.

The US is currently governed by people who are still impressed by fire. Burning oil and coal - and using fire for violence - are the only technologies they understand. The wind and sun are *mysteries* to them.

Three Reasons Why The Steelers Hired Mike McCarthy
Like it or not, Mike McCarthy will be the Pittsburgh Steelers’ next head coach. The fan reaction is largely in the latter camp. Understandably so. A 62-year-old, third-time head coach with one playoff...

Their claims towards inevitable AGI are akin to claiming they can teach the solar powered calculator collecting dust in a drawer in your house how to love.

It's so stupid on the face of it that it can only be the result of a concerted propaganda effort leveled at people too lazy and dumb to learn.

I have been told by doctors that I can't be autistic because I "communicate too well" & I "relate to people too well," and it's like these dense assholes don't realize that hyperlexia is an indication of autism and that women (particularly women w/ C-PTSD) have their autism manifest as hyperempathy.
The similarities between how medical professionals treat autistic woman and how they treat trans women are remarkable. A lot of which seems to stem from being attached to certain narratives about what we "should" be like and refusing to trust our testimony.
This one’s doing the rounds again. Hilariously all the Medium comments don’t believe me either

So, I moderated a local history panel last weekend. An organizer just sent me a "summary" to approve. They uploaded the audio to some AI, which fabricated an outline and "pull quotes." The quotes are fake. No one on the panel said any of that.

It had the full audio and STILL made up quotes.
