He's using the CIA as an end-run around Congress. Trump installed Michael Ellis as General Counsel of the CIA back in September and got him to write a memo saying these attacks are legal. Ellis was part of the group that hid the "perfect" phone call with Zelenskyy that led to Trump's 1st impeachment
That’s a serious escalation, and we've heard nothing about it from our own government.

This is not hard. Artists are not responsible for ensuring the Kennedy Center remains relevant and successful. The center’s board is responsible for that, in a fiduciary way. All of this energy being directed at artists should be re-directed at the board.

So, what would it take to actually establish peer review in legal research? I'm all in whatever it is...

I think "I need to be able to misgender and deadname Vanessa" is no different from "I need to be able to refer to Pedro with a slur" and it's absurd to pretend that when it's a trans student we're in some completely novel scenario where there's no choice but to allow the harassment.

ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

At this point, every OU student should just cut and paste this "essay" into EVERY SINGLE essay and demand that unless they get to also get to pass the class, they're being religiously oppressed. Because, at OU, apparently the subject doesn't matter anymore.

Physics paper? Cut & paste this essay.
I read the entire document like they keep getting cutoff by a monotone voice going: "cite", "off-to-pic", "in-sulting"

Ngl they seemed like they would've let it pass if the student made any actual arguments instead of just going "uhh God trust bro"
Hi @nbcnews.com. Why didn’t you include the image to this 4th-grade level paper? The story isn’t this paper was university-level. That’s a lie. The story is that a paper like this gets to pass for university-level if you claim to be oppressed for being on the Right. That’s the story. Do your job.

The problem with law reviews is that they lack peer review. We may complain about R2 but at least it is not a 24yo with a political agenda making editorial decisions.

Correct. I'm a just a lowly law student, but a phd math/sci transplant. How do we work to make peer-review a reality?
I don't think the general public knows that law review articles for legal scholarship aren't peer-reviewed at all, just kind of edited by the (overworked and underappreciated) student journal clubs, and well, the future of the country can't rest on that.
The current SCOTUS majority is a bunch of sophists who like to dismiss evidence in favor of hypotheticals. They are spending enormous political capital trying to empower a guy that tried to overthrow the US government. If any good comes of this, hopefully it will radicalize people about SCOTUS.

The conservative justices have their talking point -- what if Congress turned every department into a multimember commission -- and it is totally absurd considering that has never happened under the existing law.

100% I'm just a "lowly" law student, but a phd math/sci transplant. How do we make this happen?
Resolved: part of the Reconstruction Project shall include the introduction of peer review to law reviews

So the new admin policy is, apparently, if we don’t think you are a “citizen” because of your race or ethnicity, we claim your birth certificate is a fraud and deport you any way, even if a judge says “don’t you dare.” It’s Obama birtherism writ large.

Khanna says he and Rep. Thomas Massie "are exploring all options" — including impeachment of DOJ officials, inherent contempt, or referring individuals for obstruction of justice.

According to Howard Lutnick, Donald Trump's favorability has fallen by 150% since January.
FOX: If you cut something by 100%, the cost goes down to 0. If you cut it by 600%, the drug companies are actually paying you

LUTNICK: What he's saying is if a drug was $100 and you bring it down to $13, it's down 7 times

F: Not a 600% cut

L: But it's 700% higher price before. It's down 700% now

It's incredible to me how the mainstream press will be incredulous and skeptical when RFK Jr and other HHS officials push they're quackery around vaccines but suddenly become credulous when they go attack trans healthcare. Anti vax and anti trans beliefs are all the same quack pseudoscience.

No papers will ever be good enough if the Admin doesn’t want them to be.
When the official policy of the government has become “ this must be fake, you’re too brown to be American” it’s time to stop pretending that this will all just go back to normal

The single most effective thing any of us can do for the legal system is to hold the party bringing the case to its burden of proof, whether that's the government or a landlord or a debt collector. Unless the government PROVES otherwise, the defendant IS innocent. Not "might be."
