So I’ve joked that people can buy me a coffee and a few have… but this is really for record requests and whatever else.
My little solo firm is not rolling in cash. If you want more tea, and can spare a few bucks, I’d appreciate it. Put what the $ is for and I’ll mark it

Moda Center may take about $600 million to renovate with things it does need - better HVAC, better water supply lines, etc but this whole bs is just that... bullshit.

MultCo claims that public health experts are informing our warming shelter threshold, but idk how anyone who has a real stake in public health can think the temps we’re seeing aren’t worth opening a warm place to sleep. 25 degrees or 32 with an inch of rain? I hold hope we can do better.
Multnomah County has no plans to open warming shelters. Clackamas County opened an overnight warming center Monday night. In Longview, a severe weather shelter opens Monday through Wednesday, and Clark County is opening both overnight and daytime warming centers.

This week's cold weather isn't expected to trigger Multnomah County's criteria to open warming shelters. Regardless, it'll be a challenge for those living outdoors.

There are so many worthwhile investments Portland city government should be making with the $1.7B Clean Energy Fund. Renovating the Moda Center is absolutely not one of them.

So, they’re arguing that the goals of PCEF funding would not be damaged by diverting $$ to police, even though the climate resiliency projects we need to barely approach weathering our emerging climate crisis are seemingly bottomless… make this make sense.

Falling for this is so embarrassing 😭😭
we’re going to see a full court press to just shovel piles of public money into into private hands under conditions of duress. we’re already there and today’s state of the economy report is a key marker for entering a new stage, i think.

2700 families were evicted in Oregon last month.
Last month set an all time record for the number of evictions in the state of Oregon. This is an emergency, and this legislative session I'm asking my colleagues to add back $10 million to the state's eviction prevention fund to help keep families in stable housing. #orleg https://loom.ly/4Fgb5vs
Record evictions in Oregon highlight urgent housing crisis
Oregon experienced a record high in court-ordered evictions in January, driven by reduced state funding for eviction prevention and rising living costs, prompting urgent calls for solutions to keep families

The oversight resolution from me, Councilor Green, and Councilor Avalos passes!

Aye - Avalos, Smith, Pirtle Guiney, Kanal, Green, Morillo, Koyama Lane, Dunphy

Nay - Ryan, Clark, Novick, Zimmerman

Portlanders deserve transparency about public dollars, I hope this is the beginning.
If City Council does not have an accurate an reliable accounting of funds to make decisions for what services we save and cut, we cannot do our jobs.

Council must exercise our oversight powers to prevent this from happening again, and I will strongly support Councilor Green’s oversight resolution.

Wild that accountability at the City of Portland is being posed as a punitive measure and a threat to job security when the biggest threat to job security is likely Mayor Wilson. How may department directors have been ousted by him again?

Questions are:
- who led this incompetence?
- and how are our local leaders going to make sure this NEVER happens again?

This money could have kept people stably housed the last two years. This undermine’s trust in government and hurts the chances for all local taxes that go to public services.
The Portland Housing Bureau has found additional unspent dollars in its coffers, adding to the previous $21 million it found through an audit last year. The uncovered funds could impact two pieces of Council business this week.
