Last month set an all time record for the number of evictions in the state of Oregon. This is an emergency, and this legislative session I'm asking my colleagues to add back $10 million to the state's eviction prevention fund to help keep families in stable housing. #orleg https://loom.ly/4Fgb5vs
Record evictions in Oregon highlight urgent housing crisis
Oregon experienced a record high in court-ordered evictions in January, driven by reduced state funding for eviction prevention and rising living costs, prompting urgent calls for solutions to keep families

It's been a busy start to the year - press conferences and rallies, overseen hearings on multiple housing and transportation bills, met with policymakers and advocates on everything from immigrants' rights to economic development, and hosted visiting constituents for meetings in my office. #orleg

The Skanner's closure is a profound loss—an irreplaceable Black-owned institution holding power to account & serving communities too often ignored. I’m championing Protect Local Journalism (SB1580) to ensure Big Tech pays its fair share so community media survives & thrives.

In this fraught time, it's inspiring to see Oregon high school students stepping up to discuss and debate our foundational constitutional principles, as they are being tested and under threat like never before. Shout out to the students from McDaniel High School featured!

I am grieving the latest killing by federal agents. Alex Pretti — a neighbor who stepped in to protect a woman being physically attacked, who was then held down by multiple federal agents — was shot dead by ICE in Minneapolis this past weekend.

Thanks for coming to our Town Hall, Brian!

This legislative session, I'm introducing legislation to help build upon the City of Portland's successes with their Inclusionary Housing program, creating greater flexibility for cities to implement similar programs while installing guardrails to ensure we continue to build more homes. #orleg
3) Tell his housing bureau to drop its opposition to LC 5, @senkhanhpham.bsky.social's bill modernizing the state's inclusionary zoning statute.

It'd give cities more options for mixed-income buildings while ending the possibility that poorly designed or bad-faith policies block future homes.

Disappointed to see the IBR team once again deferred providing an updated cost estimate.

I am concerned the ongoing cost-escalation will make it difficult to complete this project while also finding funding to maintain existing statewide roads and bridges. #orleg

We live in uncertain times when fear is weaponized. But we're not alone. Our strength in community is stronger than hate. I mourn the lives lost in the antisemitic attack in Australia, and deeply appreciate Oregon's Jewish leaders' message of hope.
