should i do like “one shot with a councilor events?”

like get a handful of folks to play a one shot adventure and we can just talk politics while we play. would anyone be into that?
The fact that Sarah Jeong was Mitch Green’s DM…I must know more!! @drmitchpdx.bsky.social, what’L was your character? What was the adventure? How can *I* play D&D with such rock stars??

ICE tear gassed a bunch of children on Saturday. This was a massive escalation of force. They were shooting tear gas at the back of the crowd, it took these unmasked people maybe 3-5 minutes in the cloud of tear gas to escape in without trampling. www.theverge.com/policy/87278...

Just experienced the most intense tear gassing of my life by federal officers outside the ICE facility in Portland where marchers gathered. There was no fast exit as they indiscriminately threw loads of gas and flash bangs. Children were in the crowd screaming. @oregoncapitalchronicle.com

we can cut programs like this. or we could tax the rich and solve our problems at their roots. i prefer the latter, but we’ll need a legislative body that has a spine.
When formerly incarcerated people are able to obtain work, it tends to be a low-paying position, keeping them well below the poverty line. “The No. 1 contributor to recidivism is poverty,” says a spokesperson for the Prison Policy Initiative.
Budget Cuts Threaten Oregon Program for Helping People Get Jobs After Prison
The state had recently expanded the novel program for providing one-on-one career coaching, job fairs behind bars, and support for people after release.

Congressional Democrats need to understand that "Abolish ICE" is not a slogan, "not another penny" is literal, & anyone who votes for a 2-week $ extension, so you MIGHT get ICE wearing instead of holding the camera as they film themselves killing people, is getting played. (And maybe primaried.)

Organizing creates the conditions under which electeds make decisions. The DA is elected.

Do NOT leave more problematic/conservative electeds out of your organizing plan because they seem unmoveable.

You will end up expecting perfection of your friends and nothing of them, that hurts the cause.
Vasquez made his position pretty clear when CBP shot two ppl in PDX right after ICE murdered Renee Good. bsky.app/profile/b.co...

It’s come to this: “Catholic members of the US armed forces could in good conscience consider disobeying orders to attack Greenland if such orders were issued, according to Archbishop Timothy Broglio, the bishop responsible for the pastoral care of US military personnel.”
Military archbishop: Troops could refuse orders on Greenland
Speaking to Britain's Sunday program on BBC, Archbishop Timothy Broglio reiterated that conscience could permit refusal of an unjust military order.

Recent Events Could Shift the Debate Over Who Should Run City Council
The result is that when the council resumes deliberations this week, Peacock will have a much stronger case that it can mount an uncompromised response to the right-wing agenda Portlanders most fear.

Love to see it 🙌 for all picks.

DSA’s endorsement steered me towards supporting and door-knocking for Councilor Mitch Green last time around and I am proud to support his campaign for re-election in district 4. ✊🏼
Congratulations to our endorsees: Mitch Green, Angelita Morillo and Tiffany Koyama-Lane for City Council, and Farrah Chaichi for the Oregon Statehouse!

the real doom loop is service cuts to our transit system. if you cut frequency on an already infrequent system, it’s going to hurt ridership, which will lead to more cuts and fare hikes, which further hurt ridership. all of that of course adds future liabilities to the rest of the transport system

imo this is a good example of not just opposing the strike (like many dems are) but actually treating it like it’s a 70-30 issue for trump that undercuts a major reason his supporters like him

Waking up to the news that the US has bombed Venezuela, kidnapped its president, and will now seek to decide its fate (i.e. “liberate” its natural resources). We don’t have money for basic infrastructure in our local communities, but we can always start new wars? Absolutely sickening.
