Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents.

I did it because the government isn’t.

This is what I found.

I know it's been said a million times before but this style of headline is journalistic malpractice. #BBC should be giving the context to know who to believe here: Trump, whose lies and scientific illiteracy have been heavily documented, or scientists whose profession is to study drug side effects?

The Washington Post now has no Black Opinion columnists - none - at a time when white nationalism is ascendant in our nation. I am grateful to Karen for the truth and fearlessness her work has always shown. Keep shining that light, my friend.

The Wall Street Journal has now added an editor's note to the report that said "transgender ideology" messages were left by Charlie Kirk's shooter.

When @oliverdarcy.bsky.social asked last night why they hadn't added a correction, they said "none was deemed necessary."

if ones words are repeated and they are viewed unfavorably that is not a reflection of the one who repeats

it is a reflection of the author

in the UK Chotiner would be a good, competent interviewer; the incredible skill void of interviewers in U.S. journalism makes him stand out because his subjects are unused to such brutal innovations as 'challenging false claims' or 'follow-up questions'
Chotiner isn’t even like, some kind of gotcha attack guy, his interview subjects are just a bunch of guys who have been told their whole lives that they’re the brightest boys who can do no wrong

Axios' Bill of Rights says that "We will never have an opinion section". The problem is they need one. They're publishing obvious opinion content and pretending it's clinical, objective news. This isn't innovation, it's journalistic malpractice.
1. Axios' Mike Allen & Jim VandeHei insist they NEVER expresses opinions on political topics

They describe their reporting as "clincal"

So, how did they cover the first 6 months of Trump? "President Trump, in terms of raw accomplishments, crushed his first six months in historic ways," they wrote
How Axios rebranded conservative ideology as objectivity
The biggest lie in media is the one that it tells about itself.

It’s easy. The secret is *flow-based-scheduling*. Here are its three core strategies for new academic parents:

Sleep when the baby sleeps
Cry when the baby cries
Publish when the baby publishes

“Trump says” is not a story. He says A LOT. He lies a lot. Do some sifting, discerning, contextualizing. Otherwise it’s just stenography. And you’re embarrassing yourselves.
