i'll probably catch some flak for this, but utility bills have gotten so out of control that i've started turning off the burners on my stovetop before i leave the house. it saves a lot of money! i don't need them to be on when i'm not there! i don't know what else to tell you

Quite the emotional rollercoaster today seeing FromSoftware announce Bloodborne 2 in all but name, finding out it's a Switch 2 exclusive, and then learning that it's an 8-player PvPvE game

Jim Davis thinks we’re all stupid. Garfield first appeared in 1978. The normal lifespan of a cat is 13-20 years. He’s replaced Garfield, probably multiple times.

The great thing about being a Nuggets fan is at least once a game you get to watch Jokic make a pass that should be impossible given the laws of physics

The internet is fun because people will use left wing jargon and framing to say the most right wing shit ever and have no idea that’s what they’re expressing.

You know there was once a famous carpenter with long hair and some crazy ideas that turned out to be wise teachings. His name was John Carpenter and he taught us it's more fun to be stoned and play video games than work.

If you don’t let developers build new high end homes, the rich people who would have lived in them don’t just disappear.

Instead, they buy existing less-expensive homes in desirable neighborhoods and renovate them into luxury housing. This process is usually called gentrification.

today's young people spend too much time on their home computer. they ought to snap their diskettes into their protective cases, slide their rolling keyboard tray back underneath their computer desks, store their joysticks and trackballs in the peripheral hutch, and pull down the wooden shutter

I guess it shouldn't be surprising that there's a mirror-image conversation to the one about how wild drivers are now that amounts to complaining about the epidemic of pedestrian recklessness. Only one nation is mentally strong enough see both sides of the People Getting Mowed Down By Cars issue.
here is a literal sentence from an email i got in response to my newsletter on pedestrian deaths.

"I do want to see the media do some research and not assume that all victims had nothing to do with their own untimely and unnecessary death."

@davidlsims.bsky.social Thanks for doing the Spreadmaster ep, that was a fun discussion!

If you do another one, would you mind crediting me and Rik Boeykens? We actually made randomoscars.github.io for Blank Check. Both big fans of the show, not too proud to beg for a shoutout 😅

For anyone trying to set their existing Namecheap domain as their handle - bsky's instructions are wrong lol.

You have to set the txt record host as "_atproto", not "_atproto.yourdomain"
