In this Feature (9-12) article, authors share how historically marginalized ninth-grade students in Ontario used budgeting activities to explore not only pay stubs and deductions, but also questions of equity, government spending, and social justice.

#ITeachMath #MathEd can anyone help me find the article or other resources where students (or preservice teachers) can chart their mathematical autobiographies using a line graph as a way to think through their histories as math learners? I know I have seen this, and cannot find it!

This blog post, by Ian Maurer is a quick and easy read about how extensions can really make a task sing (or chirp). This blog post reminds me that a stories task can start off simple and with the right perspective, can make the mathematics very deep and complex.

Have foreign tourists really avoided America this summer? This graph from the Economist may look like a simple bar graph, but it asks the viewer to integrate ideas about both percentage change and also the actual change.
