Oh ffs.

Trump’s White House is naming fentanyl as a chemical weapon to justify the indiscriminate “drug boat” bombings it’s been carrying out in the Caribbean, which have killed 80 people to date.

There is no such thing as “narcoterrorism” — it’s a political construct designed to stigmatize & dehumanize target groups while rationalizing extreme & often illegal responses. Drug traffickers do resort to extreme violence, but they are not motivated by ideology, religion, or grievance. Just 💰💵.

Let's be honest: the hemp ban exists for the same reason that cannabis is a Schedule I controlled substance. The carceral state is a for profit industry, and marginalized people are the product.

They'd make soft drinks a felony if it was profitable to do so.

I personally think before any judge sentences a person to incarceration or detention, they should have to spend a night in that facility themselves.

And the same goes for the prosecutor recommending the sentence.

I don't care what the alleged crime is. The defendant is still a human being.

I think tonight shows why “moderate to win elections” is a real risk

the big divide in the Dem caucus, as many have noted, has been less moderate vs progressive than fight versus don’t fight

but it’s not a coincidence that basically everyone in the “don’t fight” camp is a moderate

Absolute failure of leadership, integrity and political instincts.
Under Schumer's leadership, eight Democrats (Cortez Masto, Durbin, Fetterman, Hassan, Kaine, King, Rosen, & Shaheen) joined the Republicans in moving forward a bill to reopen the government without ACA subsidies—Dems' stated key aim—or any other real concessions from the status before the shutdown.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

Of course the lesson that Dem “leadership” takes from unprecedented wins by young vibrant Dems that take the fight to the GOP is…to immediately fold. Gross. Primary them all.

So PP is a loathsome person and increasingly an inept politician. I guess it takes more than hating JT to run a party. That said I hope he continues as CPC leader because even though it means we’d still have to hear from him it also means the CPC isn’t likely to win the next election.
“It’s an historic fuck-up”

Pierre Poilievre’s week couldn’t get any worse, and yet it did.

It will be a miracle if he even makes it to the leadership review.
