This is absolutely insane. Why would you go back to diesel traction? You wouldn’t have road infrastructure sitting there doing nothing - why have overhead wires doing the same?

Crazy. Clearly CT needs to negotiate with partners to ensure electric operation is cheaper than diesel.
Slower/heavier diesel trains are a bad option for EVERYONE
-Slower older trains for riders
-Less available capacity and more wear on the corridor

DOT Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto said the return of diesel trains will allow the state to save money without cutting services.
