Rumored to be a writer. Book 'em Danno host. Decidedly unhip. Land of Lincoln Cleavage Queen 3 years running. (she/her)
I didn't sleep last night (thanks beefing raccoons, scared cats, and perimenopause). Worked my shift, which included covering a program for someone at the last minute, and then came home to do three more hours of library work.

I'm tired and I want a drink.

Hey, it's your Great Aunt Kiki, out in the yard at nearly midnight scolding two raccoons for screaming at each other.

I really need to invest in the appropriate great auntie nightdress for such occasions for the full authentic eccentric aesthetic.

I finally got my Covid and flu vax today. I prefer to get it earlier in the season, but it seemed like if I wasn't busy, I was procrastinating because I was tired from being busy. Finally got the schedule to align.

Blog Post: Untitled Tree

Sometimes I have trouble coming up with things to write about, so here's a ramble about leaves.

Untitled Tree
I realize the title of this post sounds arty, but it’s nothing of the sort. I just couldn’t come up with a clever title. I try to blog here about once a week (though, let’s be hon…

Officially had my yearly eval today. Apparently, I'm a dedicated employee.

Dedicated to being a menace.

I want to assure you all that I, too, saw the aurora borealis. I will not be sharing the photographic evidence, though, because I still haven't fixed the cracked lens protector on my phone's camera.

It causes a weird glare. I don't want anyone thinking the aurora borealis is haunted.

Due to the fact that it's currently 34 degrees and the HVAC project at the library has left us without heat (we've been getting by on space heaters), the library is closed today.

I am not complaining.

The power has been out since quarter til six this morning, a rude awakening for a fan sleeper.

When will it come back on? Who knows. More dots keep appearing on the outage map.

Time to go talk about historical murder and hope I don't bore everyone.

When my cat sees me with the laundry basket he runs like I'm going to make him wash and fold.

I feel like we have the opportunity to turn David Lynch's quote into this moment's "Keep Calm and Carry On" and it's a far better rallying cry too.

I've got my adult local history true crime program on Saturday and the logistics are so jacked because of the HVAC project that I get to shove 30 people into the room we usually have story time and kids programs in.

At least there will be donuts.

I had the absolute pleasure to work on this release for Celluloid Dreams, contributing a video essay about the pure mystery of this near-lost giallo gem. Make sure not to miss out, it's incredibly worth seeking out (and has THE most memorable musical ditty!)

Blog Post: No Word November

Okay, I will be writing words, but most of them will rhyme.

No Words November
I admit that the title is a bit of a lie. It’s not that I’m not going to write any words in November. I am participating in the November Poem-A-Day challenge and poems usually do requir…

My brain chewed up a post about the current full moon, combining "super moon" with "beaver moon" to get "super beaver", and since my mind typically resides in the gutter...well.

HVAC upgrade is going great. Today everything smelled like burning insulation.

All day.

Burning insulation.

Just delightful.

My sister needs help.

She and her family have 30 days to move because the landlord wants the house back.

It's not likely they can find a place that will allow 4 small dogs and 4 cats.

She needs help rehoming them so they won't go to the shelter.

Anyone in the Denton, TX area that can help?

We're in the process of getting our HVAC upgraded at the library.

This past week the process has included a whole lot of space heaters and multiple layers of clothing.

Going to the bathroom is like visiting Hoth.

Wow. Just wow.

Congrats to my Dodgers fans, condolences to my Blue Jays fans.

That was a wild ride of a series.

I hope they allow naps at the bar.
