A request for #rstats help.

Motivated by a real-world problem I'm facing, I wrote a package designed to help new users wean themselves off using rm(list=ls()), and nudge them in the direction of better practice.

I would sincerely appreciate feedback before I send it to CRAN
Some thoughts on checking the R session – Notes from a data witch
More precisely, some thoughts on an R package I might send to CRAN, and I’d appreciate comments and criticism

Great takes on cooking sites. ATK and Serious Eats are my go tos

One exception is that the King Arthur Flour website has the best recipes for almost anything baked. Bar none.
This is my deepest take if you want to cut the NYT cooking cord.
I think America Test Kitchen is an underrated resource and deserves the credit that people heap upon NYT cooking. It's a superior resource and not just because of my anti-NYT bias. The recipes are well tested but aren't as persnickety as Serious Eats.

Glad to see the conversation continues to grow and data speak to the enormous class bias that is built into bans on standardized testing, which end up only exacerbating them more.

This is a great paper on scale norming that also presents a really nice discussion of how people come up with their responses to surveys, and how that can change over time. One read of it has me wanting to put it into my assessment syllabus already.

Almost a decade ago we celebrated the "12 Beers of Stoutsmas" on Christmas Eve. That was a fun night.

Lots of bourbon barrel stouts, as was popular at the time. If I recall the Abyss was my favorite, and the Tart of Darkness (a sour cherry stout) was the weirdest.

Among the many other ridiculous themes of this commercial is that somehow Folgers is better than any coffee he could get in West Africa.
Whenever you read something about the accidentally incestuous Folgers commercial, you have to re-watch the accidentally incestuous Folgers commercial, it's a firm rule

So, early in my career, I did some political psych/political philosophy adjacent work. Think Charles Koch Foundation stuff (free speech, civil discourse, classical liberalism).

Participated in some think tank meetings and small discourse and dialogue sort of stuff.

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

More adventures in pizza. This week I made my classic Neapolitan style(ish), and also tried my hand at Maryland style pizza. It's based on the Ledo's pizza recipe, which was given to me by two HS friends who worked there for a summer 25 years ago. Pretty sure I nailed it..
