I’ve spent the last 8 years(!) working from the position that HiTOP relies too much on analyses of traditional diagnoses, baking in limitations of the DSM, and that we need to move to symptom-level analyses to fix it

It turns out that rebuilding HiTOP from the ground up doesn’t change much 💀

I’m pretty delighted to be part of this awesome group! Can’t wait to work together in this new chapter for HiTOP

An epic paper led by @tam-pham.bsky.social "Which Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Indices Should I Use? A Data-driven Approach to Identifying Clusters of HRV Indices," recommends a set of 13 indices for resting-state HRV.

Folks who are going to APS next summer: @olinotom.bsky.social and I are thinking of proposing a symposium on rethinking/reconceptualizing comorbidity (still finalizing a specific topic) and are looking for a couple of other folks to present. Anyone potentially interested? Feel free to DM!

Our interactive visualisation is now up and running (needs to be on a laptop/desktop for full functionality): hitop-viz.web.app/paper.html

And Matt Roberts' code for it is on the project's OSF page if you're interested in doing something similar: osf.io/cuya4/files/...

@tam-pham.bsky.social has just joined Bluesky! I highly recommend following Tam so you have a front row seat to her fantastic research ✨
Look no further for an *excellent* overview of HiTOP! This chapter for the upcoming Oxford Handbook of Dimensional Models in Psychopathology does a fantastic job of pulling everything together.

Tam Pham is an absolute superstar and I feel very lucky to work with her ✨

A new take on the limitations of "psychometric networks" now out in Nature Human Behavior. You don't want to put too much confidence in individual edges. Something we cautioned against in 2017.

Statistical evidence in psychological networks - Nature Human Behaviour
Psychometric network models have become increasingly popular in psychology and the social sciences. Huth et al. show that a large proportion of reported network findings are based on weak or inconclusive evidence inviting caution when interpreting results.
