This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.

While I have plenty of ire for Trump and his administration, it's nonsense like this - obvious BS that barely requires a rudimentary capacity for critical thinking - that makes me furious toward so many of my fellow citizens.

The unitary executive can set the curriculum at Harvard, order the owners to change the names of professional sports teams, throw his enemies in prison, close a Cabinet-level Department, but he is powerless to ask the sycophants he put in place in the FBI and DOJ to release the Epstein files.

Voters have a greater direct impact on mid-term elections, even at the federal level. It's an important thing to keep in mind – if all these evil little homunculi who voted for you to lose your healthcare are replaced, there's a chance the BBB can be overturned or mitigated.
Keep in mind that the cuts to Medicaid don’t go into effect until late 2026 conveniently after the midterm elections. Do not be fooled. Vote these ghouls out. Show up and VOTE in the midterms.

This is not about the merits of Iran’s nuclear program. No president has the authority to bomb another country that does not pose an imminent threat to the US without the approval of Congress. This is an unambiguous impeachable offense.

Unironically the thing I love about this point, is that it's a great basis to start talking to y'all about the fact that most of the people in jail in the US are just as innocent as Khalil. Many are Black folk that have been arrested with *absolutely no basis*, but wait *over a year* to see a judge.
The thing about the Khalil case is that it's very very good that he's free now but you can't have it take three months between "the government kidnaps you off the street for no basis reason whatsoever" and "a judge makes them let you go." You just can't.
