I made a tool that makes retro anime sound effects. Meet AnimeVox!
I made it for a game, but it's free to use.

I'm using the forgotten (but popular in 80s japan) Schroeder reverb algo, and some wobble.

the anime sfx-making tool! It's called ANIMEVOX, in big letters up top. Then there's the controls: In vertical pairs: Left: Pitch Rise Rise speed Reverb Room size On the right: Wobble Speed Wobble Amount Tone Brightness Volume Next is a row of keys: Randomize - randomizes the sound parameters UNDO/ REDO - go back to parameters you liked Export Wav - self explanatory, it saves a copy of the latest sound to your hard drive. Then the fun buttons, with cute art styles: IMPACT, sparkle, beam, powerUP, PON, BOOM, slash, woosh Each produces a preset sound, which then goes through the fx chain. Hope you enjoy it!

i think about this william gibson quote a lot
Gibson's later fanzine articles convey his natural flair for travel writing, since the best pieces are his description of an unpleasant encounter with Span- ish police on Ibiza ("My Life under Fascism; or, Franco Killed My Dog"), an amusing account about observing a mirror spontaneously explode in a Turk ish restaurant ("Anecdotal Evidence"), and a 1984 report on a visit to Mexico ("On the Surface," Wing Window No. 7); these pieces would not have seemed out of place in Distrust That Particular Flavor. In the first article, he explained that the policemen, after asking if a stray dog belonged to Gibson, cruelly shot the animal, provoking this rare excursion into political commentary: So the next time you hear someone say that Heinlein or Bianca Jagger or Anita Bryant is fascist, I've given you one little yardstick of the genuine, the histori- cal article. HEY PUBLISHERS: pay attention to this entire thread; and recognize that a HUGE part of the problem is assigning comics projects to editors with no comics knowledge or experience. Editing comics is a discrete discipline, and when you don't recognize that, you fuck both creators and yourself over.

The way the press is treating chatbots, like they have agency and they “know” things all of a sudden, crossed the line recently from dumb and obsequious to something else entirely. Treating them as alive and making conscious decisions is an almost religious belief. It won’t age well.
