HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🎉 I had a great 2025, but 2026 is going to be amazing.

The smallest inconvenience made you a fascist? No, you had fascist tendencies all along and were looking for an excuse.
“having to mask made me go fash” is so common and it’s just baffling

I mean, yes, it was annoying to wear one all the time? it also wasn’t that big a deal? if, today, someone asks me to put a mask on I go “ok” and put one on

and yet so many people treat it as a life-ruining imposition
The reason this Harvard history professor decided he was done with one of the best and most privileged jobs in the world was, in his own words, because he was forced to lecture in a mask during peak Covid.

I’m not making this up.

Men doing this whole “I will vanquish continents for my children” LARP is so goofy in the context of household surveys. It’s nice you’ll kill millions for your daughter, maybe we can start at doing a load of laundry for your wife who does the vast majority of household labor?

Mad at me? On Bluesky? I curate my feed and my takes too well.
What’s the funniest reason someone got mad at you on Bluesky this year?

May I also introduce a great theatre scene in the DC area that they can go to instead?
Arena Stage, Wooly Mammoth, Studio Theatre, Signature Theatre in Arlington, Ford Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Co.?
So many great alternative choices!

(I don't even live there and I know this)
This is not hard. Artists are not responsible for ensuring the Kennedy Center remains relevant and successful. The center’s board is responsible for that, in a fiduciary way. All of this energy being directed at artists should be re-directed at the board.

The Australian media is just not equipped to deal with the creeping fascism in our lives. Every major publication's editorial direction barely deviates from government policy in any meaningful way.
Labor is simultaneously talking about letting CSG, a Zionist security org with close links to the IDF, carry heavy firearms at events in Australia, and also Australians can't protest anymore... What does that feel like?? Seriously?? Anyone that isn't batshit psycho ok with this?

This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

"For lots of young theatre kids in the audience, it made their year. For me, it was just my last show of 2025." My review of ANASTASIA, a stage musical based on an animated film based on an Ingrid Bergman film that's based on a play that's based on a lie.

Finally, an actual backbone. Good to see at least.
Sarah McBride put out a fundraising post on her Instagram specifically denouncing Republicans for trying to ban gender-affirming health care for trans people. It's probably one of the most forceful statements I've read from her.

So glad to see this written about. It takes 4 - 6 (or more!) human labor hours of editing, mixing and mastering to make a 90 minute conversation flow nicely and artfully. Video-forward shows tend to excise this process entirely and the resultant conversations flow and sound like shit as a result.

Trump-Musk defunded USAID. As of Nov 2025, this caused as many as 600,000 deaths – 342, 000 of them children (Boston Univ). If USAID or some type of equivalence is not reestablished, by 2030 the death-toll will be 14 million – 4.5 million of them children under 5 yrs old (Lancet).

This is Genocide.

I'm late to Pluribus but I've seen 6 now and my gosh. Staggeringly well-made, pleasurable television. I'm slightly bewildered by the people who find it slow; I've been mesmerized. Feels like it says something new about the seductiveness of giving in/up and who's cut out for the misery of resistance.
