The first option is the only way if we want to save the republic. And it has to involve real consequences for all of these assholes.
Th future is basically:
1. Some sort of wide-ranging tribunal to credibly sort through the crime spree
2. We see a sort of Nixon style forgive-and-forget policy
3. We never get the chance to pursue the first two options
Exclusive: A U.S. official has alleged wrongdoing by U.S. spy chief Tulsi Gabbard in a complaint that is so highly classified it has sparked months of wrangling over how to share it with Congress, according to people familiar with the matter.

Gonna beg media not to just repeat Trump's obviously bullshit framing in the headlines. Tell readers the truth in the headlines.
Alternatives:
"With Artists and Audience Fleeing, Trump Closes Kennedy Center Indefinitely"
"Trump Says Kennedy Center Needs Renovation, Despite Recent $250M Renovation"
Breaking news: President Trump said that the Kennedy Center could temporarily close for roughly two years to undergo construction.

Documentarian: Well, it's just -- the group dynamics, I guess.

Chotiner: I can see that. I can see finding Nandor, Laszlo and Nadia entertaining.

Documentarian: Exactly.

Chotiner: So. How many people did you watch them murder?

I am not gleefully predicting this, just speaking from some experience, and trying to steel folks for the right timespan on fighting this: within 2-4 years, there will be Very Serious People demanding you give up asking for accountability on this stuff, and in fact *you* are the problem for doing so
This is just insane. It’s only a matter of time before DHS kills another innocent person here.

Magneto is my favorite because he would have been out killing ICE agents years before any other superhero realized they were the bad guys, and Iron Man would have gone to confront Magneto about it, thinking he was “out of line”. Magneto was right.

Jeffrey Epstein sent a link to the white nationalist podcast The Right Stuff, whose core hosts played an active role in the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally. He did so in February 2016. Before TRS made national news, really.

Genuinely bizarre.

WTF?!

Gates also reportedly sent a description of his p*nis to Epstein, the emails reveal.

On August 12, 2017, Heather Heyer was killed by a neo-Nazi in Charlottesville.

On August 17, 2017, Noam Chomsky told the Washington Examiner that antifa was “a gift to the far right”.

In between those dates he met with Jeffrey Epstein in Tuscon.

I wonder if the New York Times will go after any of the prominent academics in the Epstein files for being rapists as hard as they went after Claudine Gay for being kind of sloppy with citations in her graduate thesis.

If not, why not?
Here’s Duke behavioral economist Dan Ariely asking Jeffrey Epstein for “the name and email of the redhead that was here with you.” This is four years after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for procuring a child for prostitution.

I would go as far to argue that this was the Democratic Party’s most consequential folly of the Trump era: failing to pass bipartisan national data privacy rights when they had their one shot to do it.
This.

In 2022, there was a bipartisan privacy bill in the House that would’ve blocked most of this facial rec and location tracking. Plus other stuff. It cleared committee 53-2. It was blocked on the floor by Speaker Pelosi bc the CA delegation didn’t want their own (weaker) state law preempted.
I really want people to check in with the organizations that have been pushing back on surveillance for 10+ years.

Just to be blunt, there are a lot of folks who realized yesterday that surveillance is bad and many are suggesting well-intentioned but misguided strategies for fighting it

My folks and I are almost done with our rewatch of Schitt’s Creek. Catherine O’Hara brought so much heart to the show through her performance as Moira Rose, making it one of my favorite shows of all time. May she rest in peace 💔
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Catherine O’Hara. A beloved actor & comedian, she was a two-time Actor Award winner & a current nominee this year. Her brilliance left an indelible mark on film & TV. Our condolences to her family, colleagues & legions of fans. 💔

Goddamnit. At the same time I'm hardly surprised.
Backing up The Argument in NYT/Siena, Gen X still has an astonishing 49% approval for Trump (!), while Boomers have dipped to 42%.

Gen X is currently tracking at 12 pts to the right of the electorate on the generic ballot. Now 9 pts to the right of Boomers, which has to be the largest gap ever.

An ICE officer murdered Renée Good. Two other federal agents shot Alex Pretti 10 times. Qualified immunity shields these officers from accountability.

The Good and Pretti families deserve justice. Congress must abolish this flawed doctrine and pass my bill with @pressley.house.gov.

Nick Fuentes called Alex Pretti a “race traitor” for opposing ICE.

I argue that sentiment is actually widespread on the MAGA right.

After Alex Pretti’s Murder, it’s Clear That MAGA Media Views White Liberals as Race Traitors
MAGA is committed to the belief that the people ICE is pursuing are inherently bad and that therefore opposing ICE is standing with criminals and rapists against the American people.
