Having to click through and hope a mass shooter is a white guy so the event hopefully won’t be used against vulnerable groups is really a sign of the times.

We have been brainwashed to think everything is an individual choice and no company or leader is at fault. We have a predatory economy. From global warming to even getting scammed. We blame individuals instead of the systems that have failed to prevent us from ending up where we are.
The belief that poverty and homelessness are about "individual choices" didn't arise on its own. It was manufactured through decades of messaging designed to protect the policies and interests that create mass precarity.

Maybe this is all a ploy to goose the economy every couple of months. Threaten tariffs. People get scared and go buy a bunch of stuff to avoid them. Pause the tariffs. Rinse and repeat.
It is now clear that average tariffs on August 1 are set to be higher than they were on "Liberation Day." Only a fool would look back to the chaos of early April and conclude that the problem was that the announced tariffs were too small.
