My silliness about gaming, grief, fatherhood, non-monogamy, politics, sex work, Detroit, food, Linux, and other nerdery 🏳️‍🌈
One of the things I'm grateful for today, and every day, is that we never have to have one of those "no politics at the dinner table during family gatherings" rules that so many do, because my entire family is sane and kind.

My friend makes the most absolutely-mind blowing beautiful pies I've ever seen in my entire life on this planet. Look at these masterpieces. Master PIE ces. Get it? GET IT? CAUSE IT'S PIE?
Bc of everything going on I outsourced most of the Thanksgiving pies for the first time in over a decade (though I still am making the pumpkin). I guess it will be nice not to stay up until 3am tonight fussing over dough but I will miss the satisfaction of a really pretty final product.

When I was at MS, we had to dogfood copilot. I tried using it a lot, because I was told to over and over again. This video pretty much mirrors my experience with it. It wasn't dogfood, it was dog shit. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLzl...
I talked to Copilot AI in Windows 11 for a whole week. Here's how it went.

This article is about me, specifically. Well, me and every other of the legion of people who have switched to Linux but keep Windows around literally just for Lightroom and Photoshop. Affinity on Linux would be the final piece.
Affinity for Linux? Canva's next big move could reshape the desktop software market
Canva is seriously considering porting Affinity to Linux - a move that could transform desktop Linux and challenge Adobe.

Zohran Mamdani: "We're gonna make this a city that doesn't just protect trans kids, but also celebrates and cherishes them."

I jumped back into My Time at Portia from @patheagames.bsky.social.

The "My Time At..." games are total cozy gaming comfort food and I love them dearly. Sandrock is phenomenal, and I can't wait for My Time at Evershine.

Hey sorry our chatbot encouraged you to die by suicide but in our defense you were violating our terms of service because you died by suicide.
Additionally, OpenAI argues its not liable because Raine, by using ChatGPT for self-harm, broke its terms of service

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.

Slowly but surely I am shedding my 25 year online identity and taking on a new one for the next phase of my life.

I have always been fascinated with words like Kodak and Atari. Made up words that are easy to communicate, pronounceable in most cultures, short, and simple.

Monroe, Michigan, is one of the most racist places I've ever personally been to. This doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

Anyways, adding Campbell's to my ever-expanding boycott list. Good ol All-American brand right there.
Campbell's soup VP caught on tape trashing his own brand. Oof. www.clickondetroit.com/news/local/2...

I will say when I stopped hate-reacting and hate-reading comments on gross Facebook posts etc and blocked them instead, the algorithm pretty quickly righted itself.

I think at a certain point its just self harm to keep in that loop, the world isn't really like that.
Seeing how much of the right-wing on Twitter is just bot farms, kinda lays bare how much hate and hatred is a project that needs to be constantly maintained, a fire that needs to be fed all the time lest it go out for a moment, so much time, effort, and resources to keep people angry and hateful.

Tryna find a solid cornbread dressing recipe to make for Thanksgiving this week, and every recipe blog is like a tradwife-lookin blonde-ass white lady.

Black folks help me out here, please. My family is still kinda ethnic and white food is boring. All the matriarchs are gone and it's up to me.

Every day in trade chat on the Thrall realm in World of Warcraft, there is a person who says "Is Zelda cooler with his sword or is Metroid cooler with his gun" and every single day, someone loses their mind correcting them.

For months and months on end. Every day.
i think it's rly cool how you if u say "zelda is the boy in the game" it will always summon someone to correct you. and year after year it never changes. a beautiful constant in this universe. and zelda literally is the boy too

In a Commodore world, I was the weird Atari kid

In a Mac world, I was the weird Atari ST kid

In a Windows 95 world, I loved BeOS and OS/2 Warp

Then I had kids and got a job and became a boring, average PC user.

But now that I'm back on Linux, it captures that old feeling. I missed it.

"On Top of The World" (2013)

My thoughts were drifting in this moment, having finally met my match in somebody adventurous, mutually wearing our hearts on our sleeve. Anxious, and yet, unable to stop the oncoming smirk. Where does it go from here?

I think "fake it til' you make it" is genuinely a great bit of advice but people (understandably!) think it means "lie until you've duped everyone" when in reality it's much more "act like you belong here because you actually do and you need to get over yourself"
