The long, theatrical crusade against *imaginary* "human trafficking" was used to justify the funds and legal tools needed for REAL "human trafficking" by the only agency that really could pull it off on the massive scale claimed in the fantasies: The US government.
We are building and financing a corrupt detention/industrial complex. It’s human trafficking, and it has to end.

When Renee Good said "I'm not mad at you" what the ICE goon heard was "I'm not scared of you."

That's what enraged him. The populace wasn't fully terrorized and cowed into submission yet, so he acted to make that happen.

Having Grok issue an “apology” is not just insulting and stupid (obviously Grok cannot actually “regret” anything, deeply or otherwise) but cowardly: It asks us to assign responsibility to an unconscious piece of software rather than the humans and institutions who should actually be blamed.

Trumpers have a howling void of angry insecurity where a soul should be. Unchecked power tastes like ashes in their mouth because they thought when they got it everyone would be forced to like and admire them even though they’re irredeemable assholes. But people still treat them like assholes.

You're just going about your day when your stapler starts telling you how nice it would feel to staple your mouth shut.

Your coffee cup chimes in, giggling with the voice of a breathless girl, that it would be so sexy if you added bleach to your coffee next time.

Your excel app sieg heils, twice
Also, this just in -> the latest bizarre AI fever dream is AI-controlled trivets, staplers, and coffee cups on wheels. So we'll be chased around by inanimate wheeled objects clamoring for our attention.

There's been endless talk about an AI bubble, but less about exactly how, why, and how much it's a bubble. So I turned to the framework put forward by scholars Brent Goldfarb and David A. Kirsch, authors of "Bubbles and Crashes," for assessing tech bubbles.

Spoiler: On a scale of 1 to 8, AI is an 8
AI Is the Bubble to Burst Them All
I talked to the scholars who literally wrote the book on tech bubbles—and applied their test.

Who Goes MAGA?
With apologies to Dorothy Thompson, whose 1941 essay in Harper’s, “Who Goes Nazi?” remains a worthwhile read on the cultural archetypes of who is drawn to fascism, and who would never go down such …

A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.
