So, have we had enough of Russell Vought and his #Project2025 yet? Have we had enough of the American military in our streets on these ginned up Reichstag fire excuses?
Are you asking yourself WHY only a pitiful 53% of the public disapproves of all this, when we are clearly on the verge of …

I’ve been watching this game for a long time. The American left is all fiery piss and vinegar when it comes to rhetoric, but completely inert when it comes to any kind of organized action. The Democratic party is the flagship operation of that failure, but our fleet is enormous. We haven’t …

For the life of me I still cannot understand why anybody thinks these Republicans would have not watched the entire country burn before they’d concede. They keep telling everyone they don’t care who hurts, and they don’t think it will hurt them to keep hurting. So what possible leverage comes …

Huh, Tim Miller and I agree on something. Despite the press’s need to help Dems implode, the Dems got a lot more out of this shutdown than most will accept right now. There was not the smallest chance the GOP would fold. They WANT to crush the safety net. We had no game. But the Dems used the …

MAGAs will never understand why this kind of objectification is appalling to decent folk. They think it’s about “women.” They can’t comprehend that broad swaths of humanity think the value of human beings is greater than the sum of their sexuality and physical appeal.

Well I just got a call with the second piece of good news this year. My bladder biopsy was negative. So now it’s Shoq 3, cancer nothing. I really like winning this game. #FuckCancer.

Kid Rock got lucky with a hit song in 2008. Yet MAGAs still thinks he’s a modern Elvis. They’re all such mindless wastrels with no comprehension of anything with authentic quality or worth. There are landfill biotoxins with more value to humanity than the average MAGA moron.

And now for the things MAGA cares most about, while you sniveling, bleeding heart liberals worry about health care and starving children. What is wrong with you?

As I said, I’m all for referendums. I wish we had more of them. National referendums would be the a Holy Grail of American political reform. And almost certainly why we will never see them until we find our collective spine, shut everything down and just start demanding them.

Such a killer episode, pardon the pun. Infuriates me that the issue has barely had a mention in years, yet it’s still killing people every day. Liberals seem able to keep their eye on just one ball at a time. John Oliver and his team are some of the best journalists we have.

For those new to my rants , I’ve been saying for many years and our problems are not political, but cultural. We like to blame Democrats so much because we’ve permitted a society where MAGAs can and do control the narratives, the labor force, and most of the capital. We control nothing.

The older I get, the more I watch these political dramas, the more I side with the cynics who think that evil people will always be able victimize the rest of us. The only thing humanity ever invented to prevent them doing that was liberal government. And we’ve totally fucked that up.

I just stepped out for some air and a car went by covered with bumperstickers. The one that stood out was “Don’t Blame Me, I Voted for Pat Paulsen.” Oh, such innocent times were they.

With the fate of the entire country—if not the world—riding on the midterms, the most suicidal thing we could do is start playing those fanciful primary games and risk even one seat that will vote with us 99% of the time. Those with no power have no margin for error.

Long before many reading this were alive, it was widely held that people with sincere intentions could cordially disagree on politics. Ever since the Gingrich revolution set the stage for this MAGA fiasco, his party has been working to erase that history. With great success.

I had virtually no doubt that more than 10 Democrats would ultimately opt to end the shutdown. But many seasoned Dems said from the start—and GOP knew, too — that it would end that way. The powerless don’t get more power by complaining about it. They get it by taking it back.

Nothing annoys me more than having Tim Kaine get his way on anything. But I won’t let that take precedence over those I’ve spoken to for weeks who have not moved their bowels due to the political terrorism threatening them. MAGA will never be defeated by just pounding the table.

Certainly true, but this is how it usually plays out when a minority has virtually no leverage over the majority in a duopoly. Denying them their pyrrhic win only feels good if we ignore all those who would have suffered for it. bsky.app/profile/waja...
This and the airline industry lobbyists are what did it. Not Americans starving and paying twice as much for healthcare.

More than 10,000 flights delayed in worst day of disruptions since shutdown
More than 2,800 flights were canceled Sunday, while Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy said the shutdown’s impact on airports is “only going to get worse.”

Yes, one of these 10,000 flights was mine; not sure if I will ever get home.
Total strangers talking together frightened of what T***p will do next to disrupt the lives of US citizens. We seem to have no protection against him. He doesn’t even care if he hurts people who’d voted for him now.

Not saying it isn’t. But you’ve spent a career tempering outrage so we stay focused on fixing things, not being performatively outraged, even when justified. This will be old news in a week. And we’ll be right back to “what now?”

I’m not paid for my outrage. I just am. And so are the House Dems. So maybe it’s warranted.

I’ve been a student of our politics for 5 decades. What have I learned about my fellow liberals? That the most fun many have with their clothes on is a circular firing squad.
I wish we could remember that the really good bad guys are much worse than the really bad good guys.
