Reality has a way of getting the last word.
Imagine if we relied on Cochrane-style systematic reviews to make decisions about teaching practices.
Or, we could just stick with chasing whatever Shiny New Thing a Board member or superintendent vaguely understood from a vendor sales pitch at a statewide conference.
Potayto potahto.
What a catastrophe that K-12 schools and universities are pushing this half-baked technology into the classroom and acting like everyone who isn't on board is a Luddite.

It's the first snow of the year, but none of the students are rushing over to the window! (I worked in high school libraries for 20+ years. This is my first year as a university librarian. I note some differences!)

Someday, this will all be over, but they'll be stuck with that face, its associations, and the consequences of filler abuse for the rest of their lives.
Plastic surgeons in DC are being asked by Trump insiders to get plastic surgery that's obvious and in keeping with "Mar-a-Lago face."

Paging @inbedwiththeright.bsky.social, whose episode on Republican Makeup (another term for the same tendency) was an eye-opener for me.

Dignity wraiths, female edition.
@tressiemcphd.bsky.social has repeatedly observed that the MAGA feminine aesthetic, instead of aiming for a coherent beauty heuristic, is meant *only* to signal female willingness to self-subjugate to a male desire.

The outcome needn’t be “attractive”, it need only say “I’m willing to do this”.

People living in countries with Universal Healthcare don’t envy the US system

They don’t want for profit healthcare

There are some Americans who insist on defending their healthcare system even as it bankrupts (or kills) people for profit…. But most would happily switch systems if they could

Found the tweet that Joyce Carol Oates bodied Elon Musk with and it's so beautiful in its eloquent, simple take down. So much so he's crashing out trying to prove he reads books now. Put this in the Louvre.

Equatorial Guinea is routinely ranked as one of the most corrupt countries in the world. It has been ruled by the same person since 1982 - for 45 years. Despite the title of President, he rules with near-absolute power.

The Trump admin just deposited $7.5 million in his government's bank account.

Yes you have good cause to be mad at the Democrats, but never forget that a political party emerged in this country whose platform included hungry kids, sick kids, and deported kids — and we were all conditioned to act like that was the party of “real America”

And so maybe it is.
