FB post from the local fire brigade…

It’s so insane that that are all volunteers. Why has this service been dictated as not being fully funded…

One of the most successful pedestrian streets in the world, the Strøget in Copenhagen, was filled with cars until a 2 year pedestrianization pilot project in 1962. The opposition argued “no cars means no business,” but the street has been a massive retail success, the city’s busiest shopping street.

I desperately need you, the person reading this post, to know that this is happening at the senior leadership/executive levels of YOUR COMPANY TOO right now.

And I really do mean *you* even if I know you personally.

Hell, some of you ARE the executives.

🚨Your regular reminder to STAY OUT of flood waters.
🚨 You can be washed away by far shallower water than you’d think, and flood water is full of debris and probably contaminated 💩
🚨Follow the instructions of civil defence, evacuate early if you feel unsafe.

Heraskevych’s choice to forfeit the medal chance instead of give up the memorial helmet is the biggest story in Ukraine today. Everyone is heartbroken but there is a unanimous consensus that this was what had to happen rather than to give up.

I once again feel compelled to remind folks that you feel science news/new scientific developments are bad and destructive because you are not reading science news: You are reading techbro press releases, regurgitated uncritically by outlets that long ago fired all their science/tech beat reporters.

If you are hype for the Wuthering Heights movie but want to refresh your memory of the book, let me commend to you the magnificent Aimee Lou Wood audiobook

To hear her shift effortlessly between the text's recursive voices & accents & registers is a joy

If the Labour Party had tried to do anything even remotely like this every news editor would be labeling it as undemocratic and demanding an early election #nzpol
UNBELIEVABLE! 🤯

Luxon’s idiotic fossil gas terminal will bypass even the fast-track process so that construction can start before the election.

Let that sink in.

Haha had a scam call from 09 3024800 claiming to be the fraud team at my bank. I declined to provide any verifying data and called the 0800 instead.

Beware the con artists. This one had a New Zild accent!

I shall discuss it on my weekly telco/bank anti-fraud call tomorrow. 😇

Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

"It's not a circular solution if it still ends up in landfill".
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

"Your project starts in three days and you want a plan for communicating with stakeholders?"
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

"Please check with the client whether this should be singular or plural/male or female/how this person's name should be read, because I can't tell from the context."

I really wish Labour would come out and say:
We will undo all the shitty coalition policies
We will enshrine Te Tiriti
We will not protect abusers and do deal with the criminal Presidents
We will tax wealth
We will look after the voters not the donors.

I will still vote Green.

Watch this space… voters have the power to demand parties campaign on climate ….
