The recent success of the Basic Income for Artists pilot scheme in Ireland has led to it being made permanent. 🙌 As a result interest is growing over here, and CCIC have started having discussions with Basic Income campaigners. If this thing takes off, we want to get comics in on the ground floor!

🚨 This weekend, I’ll be tabling @thoughtbubbleuk.bsky.social!

It’s been 10 years since tabling solo. I’m excited to return to the most important festival in the UK comics calendar, but also surprisingly anxious.

Come find me at COMIXOLOGY HALL C36 and give me an encouraging pat on the back.

Like the Guardian, people view the BBC as left wing and, as a result, their combined anti trans campaigning has done more damage to trans people than the entire right wing media machine, because they legitimised the right wing's lies.

A group of powerful national journalists choosing to single out the healthcare of a vulnerable minority for a campaign of intense laser-like scrutiny would, in an humane society, be described as an insane radicalised pogrom.

But on Normal Island, that's a Wednesday.

It's important to keep pointing this out about the many people who have gone the same way. Too often we suggest or imply that the trans moral panic merely allowed these people to be who they always were. Not true. We're seeing a process of *radicalisation*. We can't fix things unless we name them.
Transphobia is a pipeline to the far right. An example:

Suzanne Moore used to be a left wing columnist at the Guardian.

Then came the anti-trans panic. Despite the Guardian also promoting it, it wasn’t enough & she left.

Moore is now complaining about wokeness over the Irish famine & colonialism.
Suzanne Moore, who would rather be locked up than pay her BBC licence fee because the BBC is too nice to trans people for her liking.

This is good one, and I'm enjoying the anthology format here. That conversation has gravitated to the micro form (tweets/posts/tiktok) or the indeterminable endless wander (essays, videoessays) seeing folks hit an idea with in 400 words and get out is just nice.
Issue #31 of our newsletter is out now, ft. Scotland as unicorn factory, Asimov's robots, The Red Dress Project, unsmashed pumpkins, Toxic, The Filth, Pricks, Jimmy Smits, Peter Watkins and more!

This is how transphobia's right wing fuckery blew open basic respect in the UK, there is absolutely no reason to expect now that being "women critical" is not also a protected belief, if you truly do not believe that women should just be reproductive slaves for cis men.

This will be used to abuse.
