I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

Every time I hear a politician say that an issue is “dividing” this country they always then come down on the side of the right wing view of it. Just once I’d love to hear someone say “this issue is divisive, which is why I’m making the argument that kindness and compassion is important”

@trillianjones.bsky.social I really enjoyed your letter this week with your top 10 and bottom 10 - and I have to say that being "in a bit of a mood" is the best way to be when listening to @impq.bsky.social

To advocate a policy making refugees lives harder on the basis that it is a way to deal with the "anger" from the vocal racists in our country is bizarre.

Next up - reducing women's wages to appease misogynists and making gay people stay indoors to avoid homophobic thugs who like to beat them up.

Anyone who wears any item of clothing with the name of their favourite politician on should be mocked, shunned and possibly deported.

Elon Musk wants to use technology to transform the entire planetary atmosphere of Mars so we can live there.

If you haven't got the technology to keep earth habitable by removing a small percentage of the CO2 from the oceans and the air then how the fuck is that going to work you colossal bellend?

The Home Secretary says "we have become the destination of choice in Europe, clearly visible to every people smuggler and would-be illegal migrant across the world"

That is a factually untrue claim: the Home Office shows that the UK is fifth, getting 1/10 claims, while Germany gets 1/5 claims

Another day another migration story. Terrifying in here tho is the reform of the ECHR she will attempt. This will be Labour's biggest and most dangerous mistake, I GUARANTEE. It will set up the infrastructure for a Reform govt. to dismantle all our protections. news.sky.com/story/home-s...
Home secretary to tackle UK's 'excessive generosity' with sweeping immigration reforms
In a statement to MPs on Monday, Shabana Mahmood is expected to tighten up the rules to allow for more deportations, and reduce the "pull factors" that attract migrants to the UK.

Any politician who is taking seriously that the next election might be lost to a far-right populist party, should be doing all they can to strengthen protections for vulnerable people. If this is lost, it will go down in history as a moment where everything collapsed.

I have to say - I think asylum claims for people from Africa will be less likely to succeed the way things are going.

You need to demonstrate you'd be unsafe if you went back but right now...it's hard to argue it's any less safe than being in this racist country if you're black. Thanks Labour 🙄

Whenever these house raffle things pop up and they add a "£80,000 Mercedes" you realise how very little car Mercedes give you for £80k. Always been really poor spec for the price compared with their competitors but wow they've gone downhill. All shiny plastic and fake chrome. Bargain bin stuff.

No Shabana Mahmood.
It is not.
Global finance tore Britain apart in ‘08. We let them off, let austerity ravage it for years, completely f*cked it with Brexit, then Covid added a rancid cherry.
What’s tearing Britain apart is scaremongering about illegal immigration.
You should be f**king ashamed.
