Incredibly short-sighted and irresponsible, and completely disconnected from the real values & priorities of Vancouverites. This move would be awful not only for Vancouver, but also for all the cities that Vancouver’s leadership has inspired over decades of North American sustainability leadership.

My positive impression is that since his senior Green councilor Adriane Carr (who was very much a centrist) left, Pete Fry is finding his footing as a progressive and could be a leader, even a mayor, depending how things shake out in what i hope is a COPE/Green/OneCity slate, unified to beat ABC.
There’s still time to let council know what you think of the proposed 2026 “zero means zero” budget

It’s wild to suggest this is a circular firing squad or something when it’s millions of citizen Democrats who hate it versus 47 elected Democrats who conspired to surrender for nothing.
We’re not fighting “each other,” we’re fighting you. There’s only a few dozen of you, but you hold all the power.

But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

The last line might seem farfetched, but "how stupid voters are" is one of the core "points" made by centrist grifter Rachel Bitecofer (who blocked me when i attempted dialogue). Give voters nothing to hold onto, and then act pissed when they don't try to hold onto anything.

Bears repeating. Follow the money. The yes votes received airline PAC money. Airline stocks were taking a big hit because of the shutdown related reductions. I saw this coming.

IF (big if) Repugs hold a token vote in January, they will undoubtedly vote to axe the ACA subsidies. So Dem consultants can then advise their stooges to run on a "see what those bad Repugs did?" platform. Which, as we know, has always worked so well and is the reason Dems have had so much success.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

This. I'm really saddened to see FB posts by well-meaning people who refuse to read beyond the headlines. Jackson made this move knowing full well that ignorant folks will vilify her for this. She cares more about kids than she does for her reputation.

No, Justice Jackson didn't suddenly turn MAGAt. She made a strategic move to prevent an even worse response from SCOTUS as a whole. This explains things far better than i can.

Perfect illustration of @yappelbaum.bsky.social's biggest, unacknowledged flaw in Stuck. In yesterday's NYC elections, pro-housing-density YIMBY ballot measures succeeded in pro-Mamdani neighborhoods, lost in pro-Cuomo ones. But in Yoni's world, it's those "blue liberal cities" that are the problem.

ICE should be rightly called child abusers for doing stuff like this in front of children.
It's bad on its own for its brutality toward adults, but they are traumatizing kids.
