I'm not giving up, but I feel hopeless.

We don't trust the fact that our data vis is well calibrated so we are hedging early with this kind of language, but not waiting to use the needle to when it can be more useful because then it might be obvious who is winning.
Given this is how they're framing it, I'm *very* confident that the needle will look worse for Democrats early in a given state's reporting than it has historically.

I refuse to believe that anyone goes to Taco Bell on a whim

Being a lawyer for someone as indisciplined and mercurial as Musk can be miserable. Any sane, sensible person would have vetted this stunt ahead of time. Musk probably just decided to do it and announced it the way you or I would decide to go to Taco Bell on the way home.
WILD: Elon and his legal team are floundering, making claims to get around one argument, not thinking about the larger picture or consequences. Here, they say it's not an illegal lottery because it's not random — even though Elon said it was.

How can it be imaginary if you know people have done it in the last?

I've talked about this *a lot*

As someone who's written books, you often receive info that is conditional. It is for a book not an article. Books are slower. Sources are looser with facts after races or stressful moments are over.

Books can get info out that wouldn't otherwise be there.

I understand that this is a no-win situation, but what is a satisfactory form of protest here?
The @washingtonpost.com has lost 200,000 subscribers, @npr.org says.

I understand the anger; many in the newsroom are angry, too. But how many stories won't get reported, and how many journalists will lose their jobs, because of a decision they had nothing to do with?

Over 200,000 people canceled their subscriptions in the first few days following news that The Washington Post would not endorse any presidential candidate.

Either the polling is way off or there is a huge realignment happening in a very short amount of time.
Pew validated voters, aged 18-29

2016: 58-28 (+30 Dem)
2018: 72-23 (+49 Dem)
2020: 61-35 (+26 Dem)
2022: 68-31 (+37 Dem)

Where exactly is this idea coming from that young men are voting outright for Trump? Seems made up. Even with a wide gender gap you couldn't get these numbers if that were true.

I understand that a new feature was implemented on the other site that is driving a huge exodus of people to bluesky, but what is it about that feature that is pushing you here? Bluesky has the nuclear block option which is great.

I know in the grand scheme of things having to wait a little longer is no big deal, but I can't believe this mission got delayed again. Feels like it can't catch a break.

In my brief time as a professor (VAP at two different schools for two years each) it was clear that no one had any idea how to do evaluations on the teachers. Students who know nothing about teaching are given this power and administrators to don't know
So many people sounding this drum for years, yet schools still rely on evals in determining raises, promotions, and other consequential decisions. Baked-in discrimination. #academia

I have my own media bubble. No question about it. It is interesting that most pundits thought Vance won, when the snap polling showed that Walz improved his favorability's by more. The two most shared clips are Vance whining about being fact checked and avoiding an answer about 1/6.
