The sort of people who support ICE and the Trump Administration are fine with this because she’s black, because she’s a woman, because she‘s Somali-American, and because THEY are shitty people with shitty values from a shitty culture.
Nasra Ahmed, 23, was walking through the parking lot of her aunt’s St. Paul apartment complex when she found herself surrounded by 12 agents. Ahmed, born in the USA, says she showed them her I.D. She was forcefully detained and jailed anyway for more than 2 days. www.twincities.com/2026/01/18/s...

2️⃣ He said it, but you misunderstood him.
3️⃣ He said what you understood, but he was just trolling.
4️⃣ He was serious but he's just negotiating, not going to do it.
5️⃣ He's going to do it for grand strategy reasons I've invented.
6️⃣ Look what you liberals made him do.

This is probably the most accurate description.

Someone in their mid-50s today told me that this is the first time he had thought about or been affected by politics. And that guy is actively guarding buildings and his coworkers from ICE.
Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.
This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.

2nd July 1863. Battle of Gettysburg. For perhaps the only time in the entire war the Confederates seem to be winning.

Dan Sickles, commander III Corps, is ordered hold on Cemetery Ridge. For reasons unknown he advances. Broken, his men begin to flee.

This is the moment on which the war depends /1

On the 3rd July, 1863, the remains of the First Minnesota would stand tall AGAIN in the face of Pickets Charge.

Depleted, but not broken, they faced it down and seized the colours of the defeated 28th Virginia in the process.

They bled. They died. They held at Gettysburg. /14

Wanna know something? Right before migrants get loaded onto an ICE removal flight, they return their gray jumpsuit and get deported in whatever they were wearing when captured. Have heard from many migrants that the planes are freezing and some shackled people are in summer tank tops and flip flops.

Per AAG Harmeet Dhillon’s X page, the DOJ is now investigating this protest.

This may frustrate the Trump admin’s religious critics, as the DOJ doesn’t appear to have investigated (at least publicly) any of the incidents where clergy have been shot w/pepper balls/tear gas/etc. by DHS agents.

For some reason, very few people these days will stand up and say it, but: the US federal bureaucracy is one of the great wonders of the world, staffed with incredibly diligent people who do their jobs well and care deeply.

Trump's destruction of the federal apparaus was a historic crime.
The Purged
Donald Trump’s destruction of the civil service is a tragedy not just for the roughly 300,000 workers who have been discarded, but for an entire nation.

One small thing I hope comes out of this nightmare is at least renaming the Department of Homeland Security. “Homeland” is not a word Americans use. It sounds like a translation from Heimatsicherheitsabteilung.
